Hi Kathy. That is the first time I've heard of diabetics not being able to have milk. A lot of people in my family are diabetics and they all drink milk.
We use 97% fat free Lite milk.
I don't like skim milk. We have been using the Lite for years now, and when I have coffee with full cream milk, it tastes so fatty! We like the Lite. As far as I can remember it didn't take any time to get used to it way back when we started to use it.

I go for skim milk coz I believe it has way lesser fats than the full cream milk. I have been gaining weight lately and am pretty conscious with my waist line. Almost all of my jeans won't fit me anymore so I guess I really need to lower my fats intake and a good friend advised me to have a milk diet. And she recommends a skim milk... Hope it's gonna work for me.. :)

Our family drinks skim milk all the time. I cannot stand to drink anything but skim. Everything else is too "fatty".

growing up mom always made us drink our milk and it was always dry milk or 2 percent milk. I never liked the dry milk...yuck. when i met my husband and still now he will ONLY drink whole milk will not touch anything less wont even cook with it or anything.,it has to be 100 percent whole milk. I have no problem drinking whole milk i think that whole milk and 2 percent milk taste the same and i will have either but not 1 percent or skim milk they taste watered down and remind me of dry milk

Hi, I'm not a lover of milk at all but if I do have it for instance on cereals then I much prefer full cream milk as skim milk's texture is quite watery. I do have skim milk in drinks though as I feel it helps keep some weight off!

I don't like milk full stop. I have never liked milk as far back as I can remember. I can't drink it just on it's own, but I do have it on cereal and that's okay... and occasionally I'll have an iced coffee.
Have you tried different brands of skim milk? Is there any difference in the taste of different brands? I hope you find one that you enjoy soon!

I drink skim or fat free milk. I didn't like the taste of it at first, but I have been drinking it now for the past 10 years and now I would never drink full cream milk again.

I drink regular milk. If I am really watching my weight I will drink skim milk. However, skim is just too watery for me. There is not much flavor to it. Tends to make the cereal taste a bit funny.

i prefer skim because its the low fat option. i also don't like 2% or whole because i can taste the 'thickness' of the milk in it, which i can't stand. I usually dont' drink milk at all, i just usually have it with cereal or use it for cooking/baking

I do not know what choices are avoilable to you. We use 1 percent milk fat or one half percent. One percent has enough fat for your body to make adequate use of the vitamin D and calcium in milk. Do you not have those choices in Australia? If not I would take a gallon of skim and mix in a pint of full fat milk. You must take care of your diabetes. I am glad you are aware of what you need to do.
