Disability vs Welfare

Now first of all I am not cutting anyone down who is on welfare because I was there myself before. But right now I am on disability through my work. This is something I paid into. I have some people including my son say you are lazy and you work for me cause I pay you. I try to explain that I paid into this disability and it comes directly from my work and has nothing to do with the welfare or provinical disability plans. I am getting tired of explaining myself. Should I just tell them where to go and how to get there or just smile and explain it once again.

They don't need an explaination dear. You need it, you got it. Nothing more is necessary to explain to anyone. You worked and you deserve it. I wish I can get it, but, they are giving me a hard time in this state. They said that since my husband works, I am not elegible. I have worked my entire life. Now I cannot walk or stand from an accident.

Just tell them where to go I have worked all my Adult Life until 3 years ago when I was bullied out of my Job because I was diagnosed with this Illness, the stress of fighting the Company made me worse and I know suffer with Panic and anxiety attacks to. So my Doctor said there is no way I can work again. I did not ask to be like this but I have no choice the same as you haven't so just tell them to get lost and mind their own Business.

I have since started telling them that. If my doctor is telling me not to work and my disabilty is approving me based on my medical reports I don't think I have to answer to anyone.

First of all this is none of your sons business. I wouldn't discuss this with him period. This is something you have paid into through your employer. Whether you get disability insurance from your employer or the government it is just that disability insurance and you have contributed. If you are unable to work then you are unable to work but I would in no way think I owe him an explanation.

Someday, they may find themselves in a similar situation. When I became ill with major depression, I was unable to work (after having worked for 40+ years of my life. I had to go on welfare, then applied to Social Security for disability and was approved. My favorite expression is "Live every day as if it were your last". Be kind to them in spite of their ridicule and someday they will admire you for it.
