I don’t think I could go back to sitting on a chair stuck in one room. I don’t mind paying the extra to get a ‘good solid laptop’ I can move around with. I’d never go back to using a desktop. My laptop provides everything I need for my graphic/web design work and my gaming needs.

Is 1 GB RAM possible? I have so far heard of 512 MB. Which vendor is giving more? Do not you think 'Onboard sound' adds more vibration to the components to reduce their respective life?

1GB of Ram 1.8Ghz Pentium M Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 Only a 80gb hard-drive, considering replacing it if I find a nice 2" harddrive laptops need. Onboard sound.

I almost definitely would select the laptop unless the desktop was a significantly better machine for the same cost. I love the mobility of being able to work (or whatever) whereever.

If the desktop and laptop were EXACTLY the same - I would choose the laptop. Unfortunately, laptops and desktops really cannot be compared.

Why they cannot be compared except for the mobility and power consumption factors? Please clarify.

If a choice given between a laptop and a desktop PC of the same price, i will choose laptop becoz laptop is portable and smaller in size .....it can easily carried over to any place

It all depends on the use.Like if i'm on the move i prefer a laptop.but otherwise i prefer to go fo for a desktop as it gives me more flexibility in terms of upgrading,etc..

Don't you feel it occupies more space? Don't you feel it provides less flexibility to the user?

I'd prefer desktop bcos it will be more reliable and more powerful than the laptop. And for the same price u wud get a desktop which will have far more better configuration than the laptop of the same price. But if portability n mobility is required for ur proffession then no more doubts.. laptops r the best choice.

It will depend upon the situation. If I travel a lot, then I will choose a laptop, If i have a office job then I would stick with Desktop.

It can be for same money, but need not be a same configuration.. These day desktop are also becoming very small.. So i would prefer to take desktop because of its robust keyboard and high performance.. and lots of things you can add..

Desktop. Hands down. I don't like the cramped space of a laptop. Laptops are expensive to service where I fix my own desktop. Don't know where else to go with this question but I do feel strongly about it. Desktops are so much better! I hate those pointing devices built into laptops. I hate the messing with batteries. The screens are smaller and I don't think that a laptop will last ten years like my desktop has. Yes, it is time for an upgrade but still, my desktop will be working for decades into the future. Heck I have an Apple IIe and play with it sometimes! It is twenty three now! 8mhz and 1meg ram. I like it! But I use my PC a lot more I admit.
