What is Art?

In your opinion what is art? Can anything be art, or are there certain specifics?

I knwo this might sound stupid, but oh well. I think art is the project my son will bring home one day when he is older that says "I love daddy and mommy!" and has his perfect little hand prints all over it. It may not be art to the rest of the world, but there is no other art I rather have on my fridge. :)

In my opinion - Art is anything whenever a person create something out of his/her own imagination.
Some is beautifull and others not - but as the saying goes - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Whether you draw, paint, build, write - if it comes from inside of you - it is art.

What about in the case of Duchamps Urinal. Do you agree with his thoery that, he is an artist and has signed this urinal there for it is art? (He didn't even sign it with his own name).

It is an statement - it is art - BAD art though - but still art.

art has no bounderies and no defination.
it is everbody's perception/invention/newness/precularity/special feature/ of a perticular thing.
anything and everthing can be art.

I think art is anything that is something someone created in any fashion, whether it be by drawing, painting, building etc. I think just about anything can be art in some form or fashion, just depends on how you look at it.

Art is something that provokes a response. Usually it is something the artist makes, but in some instances finding something and displaying it could be considered art.

Art is hard to define, it's personal and personally I don't consider a 'creased unmade bed' art. If only I could of got away with that as a child!

exactly how can something like the unmade bed be called art just because a known artist slept in it where is the creativity and talent in that?

Personally, i believe Art is everything! Ranging from the art of: speaking,walking,dacing,drawing,dressing and so on. It encompasses every aspect of our life. Cheers........
