Funding abortions with tax dollars

I think federal Medicaid funds should pay for elective abortions in the US. It doesn't make any sense to pay for prenatal care, delivery, WIC, food stamps, childcare and all the other costs of raising a child, but not pay for the far less expensive option. I would hate to think of a woman hving a child she doesn't even really want because she can't afford to have an abortion, but if she wants to give birth she can have it completely paid for by the goverment.
