why do people call cats kittens??

i know this is dumb, but whats the difference between a kitten and a cat??

Same as puppies and dogs, adults and cildren --their young.

This is a pointless discussion, but Ill answer it anyway. Kitten is a baby Cat where does it come from you want to know? Probably some old english or arabic language or old greek somewhere out there Kit- probably means baby, probably how we get kid in English. en might mean like animal or something, I really just dont know
