ooh, scary, indeed. the only online exam i took was an IQ test, and i felt really pressured because i know there had to be a time limit, and my computer was running so slow! what a bummer! lol! but i think i did pretty well.

Definately the written examination which should be done under supervision, as that way you can be more certain there is less cheating. How do you monitor whether a person is cheating if they are doing the exam on line? It would be impossible to do so of course, which means that a person doing an online exam could score a very high mark but actually know very little about the subject they are being tested on.
I think in general that final results can be a combination of written exams and assignments which are done independantly, as long as the person has to pass both to score a pass mark in the final results. :)

A lot of online exams are what's called 'adaptive' exams, meaning that the questions you get are determined by the previous answers you gave. If you successfully answered a tough question, it would increase the difficulty of your questions. Of course, you'd get credit for answering questions that are more difficult.
From what I've heard it's very difficult to cheat on these exams, since users are in effect taking totally different exams. Even if two people sitting next to each other are getting some of the same questions, they may not be getting them in the same order. And it can be harder to steal a glance at someone's monitor than at a piece of paper on a desk in a written exam.

i go for written exam whether u campair with time or usefullness .
the purpose of exam is to test our knowledge ,so we have to give more time and check again and again what we have written .

I think the written exam is better for me. Because when i was in hgh school and college we are using the written than the online. And also you can study hard coz it's to hard to answers the question's, than the online exams they have a chance the student's to cheat.

I think online is better as no one have time to copy and they have to write by their own.But If the persons of my kind as i take much time to solve or write answer ,written is better.
Comparitively written is better as all students are not quick enough to complete it in the given 1 min time for 1 question.

It would be written exams where you can score good marks as the student can write the exam with full of concentration.But in online exam if the pc gets hang then the child gets disturbed and there would be chances of forgetting the answer due to such cirumstances.Due to net problem most of the time online exams get postponed....

The best exam which can brings out the best performance of a student and his/her capacity is the written exam, because you will only have to deal with those you have already read, that makes you prepare for the written exam. But for the online examination, you can even get information about your question which cannot identify how capable you are.
