I have been reading up on potatoes to see whether or not I should include them in my diet. I have been trying to eat healthier. Are these okay to eat or should I cut out the potatoes?

I would suggest that you eat a balanced diet and that would include potatoes. Fad diets are so unrealistic that people fail because of it. I read another post where someone suggested just using a smaller plate. That way the plate looks full but your portion is smaller. I thought it was a fabulous idea

I really dont know about the health benefits but I know we have used them all our lives and my husband would go crazy if he did not have his potatoes. There are just so many wonderful ways to prepare them.

If I was you I would continue to et the potatoes they are not high in fat and you can eat them even for lunch I did when I was on a diet and it actually helped me to control my hunger longer eating a potatoe for lunch. So It may have a higher G.I. index then some vegetables but they do help lose weight . Well good luck.

I would say YES, because I love potatoes BUT, from my understanding Potatoes are not good to eat due to carbs. It seems like Not eating alot of carbs is the kick for today...Good luck to you

Well i think that potatoes tend to be fattening and as long as you limit them to maybe twice a week than you should be fine. I think that it is the starch taht apparently increases your chances of gaining weight. Personally i always include potatoes as a side dih for supper!

Potatoes are not too low or not too high in fat, but sweet potatoe(cooked any way) is really high in fat. You can eat potatoes boiled or microwaved but I would strongly recommend againt frying them and eating as that will give you a lot of fat.

Potatoes are naturally low in fat, but they have a heavy glycemic load. A better choice would be a sweet potato or a yam. I love to bake one in the microwave, then peel off the skin and eat with salt and pepper. It's delicious.
