The Prince of Tennis

What is this anime about? I saw a little bit of it last night, but I don't think I'm going to like it. It seems that all they do is play tennis, which doesn't interest me in the least. If anyone knows what it's about, or if it's more than just tennis, please let me know.

hes a guy thats good at tennis...so you watch him become te prince of tennis. thats about it

As far as I know, it's a basic high school drama that revolves around a tennis star. I tried watching it and I just couldn't get into it. Tennis is the main focus of the series. I didn't find any of the characters particularly interesting and it just sort of... fell flat for me. But I'm picky about school dramas anyway. I only like the funny ones - Ouran Host Club, Azimanga Daioh, School Rumble...

I didn't really pay that much attention to it really. I noticed that everyone was amazed at the way on of the characters played tennis, and it was rather boring. I've not seen any of those animes that you have listed, but I'll try to check them out. I have really gotten into Bleach and Eureka 7. Thanks for responding.

i don't know much about tennis, but i think i'm liking this show. its not a fantasy type, but more real life type of anime. its basiclly a story about a prodogy tennis player, a 7th grader who can hold his own (and even beat a few) against 8th & 9th graders. he's some what modest, but he gets real cockey sometimes which is really funny. if you've seen and likes Initial D, then you'll like this one.

They have 178 shows in Japanese and they decided to make OVAs, which are shows that have pretty much no solid connection with the original 178 shows. At the end of the original shows (ep 178) Echizen comes back for the US Open and defeats Tesuka, in the process using all of the other player's special shots. This can all be seen on Youtube with subs.

I hear about it but dont like it
I was read the manga but maybe it is because I dont like sport manga. I also watch the anime. BUt.... except "mada mada dame" I cant remember what I watch ^^

I love Prince of Tennis. It's one of my favorites. I love the live action musicals that are derived from the anime much better though.

I don't like that anime, though it has a fair amount of fans right now. It's about THAT guy, who used to live in America and moved to Japan, and at first he wasn't allowed to join the tennis team in his new school in Japan, because of course, the team consists of all the senior students...bla bla...but then they were surprised when they saw him play...bla bla...but then again i don't like him play...when they play they use all kinds of techniques which are "supposed" to make the anime looks great...bla bla...conclusion, i don't like it. :)
Heard that the anime is adapted to a live-action tv series in Japan. :/
