Ok all, I know this is bound to be a touchy subject, but it's well worth discussing. I have seen this movie a few times, cried every time, yet I am not religious at all. Have you seen this movie? If not, is it just because you have no interest or is it for religious reasons? (My grandmother refuses to watch it because of religion) And if you have, what is your opinion on it?

My husband and I watched it a few months back and I thought it was alright..it was a pretty good flick actually but I didnt get all emotional though...First off I'm not Christian so for me personally it was just a movie and secondly being the twisted woman I am with the morbid mind the whole whipping scene was fantastic for me cause I'm into that sort of thing LOL

There will come a day when you will find out. I just hope it's not too late for you. That movie showed just a glimpse of what our Savior went thru because of how much He loves us.

I am not a subtitles person either, but I must say that it was such a well done movie that it didn't bother me one bit. Thanks for responding. :)

I saw this movie and I was amazed by it. When I found out it was done in subtitles, I said I would never be able to watch it. My husband is not the type to sit through a movie and he did too. I let my 13 year old daughter watch with us and i regretted after. We were all moved by the movie. Myself and my daughter cried alot. The cruelty shown was unbelievable. I think the movie was well done. My daughter had to sleep on the floor of our room that night because she couldn't stop thinking about the movie. I want to see it again.

I myself wouldn't mind seeing again as well. I also ran into the daughter seeing it problem. A friend and I were in the living room watching it and she woke up with a nightmare, so I paused it and shut the screen off until she fell asleep in the chair. I made sure she was really asleep, covered her up and moved the big teddy bear she had in front of her eyes, just in case she woke up without me noticing. So we returned to the movie, and it was nearing the end that I happened to look over and I saw that she was quietly awake, just sitting there, the wetness glittering on her cheeks, so again, I paused the movie and turned the screen off, meanwhile drying my own eyes a bit so that I could speak to her. I knelt down in front of the chair, and for as long as I live I'll never forget this, I asked her why she was upset, and in this heartwrenching sob she said, "Oh Mommy but I love Jesus!" At this point I couldn't help but to sob myself...and when I looked at my friend, he was doing the same on the couch. She was fine to go back to bed that night, but if someone brings up the movie, she remembers all too well.

I love this movie and how it depicts the things he went through. Anyone who has heard the story of Jesus knows how this will go so I dont think i'm giving anything away or I hope not. It is very moving even if you are not religious to know that Christ man or God endured these things. I also LOVE how they follow Mary the mother through the movie and show her struggle with losing her son. I think that alone would make me cry.

Thanks for responding. I watched this and analyzed it, but I will never forget how scarred I felt when I saw it the first time. I was in some sort of daze for quite a bit. Even people who knew me well were starting to get inquisitive to my "stunned appearance".

Well without giving away any parts of the movie, I cried for two reasons: 1. I cry over everything..even Tim Horton's and McDonald's commercials :P 2. Even though I'm not religious, what they put this man through was hell on earth for sure.

I saw it, and hated it. First off, it was so redundant on Christ being beaten, that I was so sick, and cried so much, I had to walk out in the middle. Second off, it had a lot of anti semitism in it. So, I did not care for it at all.

I have seen this movie several times too. I am very religious and it touched my heart so much. even if you are not so religous, but are compassionate for our fellowman or a Mother, this movie will make you cry. As a Mother to a son I could not endure the pain and suffering the Mother had to go to through. This movie just gave me more of an insight of what our Lord Jesus Christ did for us. I liked the movie and will probably see it many more times.

Humm...I cried, and cried some more. I'm not Christian but I believe in Jesus and his teachings. I thought the movie though a bit strange (i.e. him inventing table legs). I wish it would have been done a little more realistically but it was Mel's vision not mine.
