I feel one has to be family oriented if they are planning for kids. Their growth is rather more important than a career unless your children manage themselves. With this I started caring my child with a low profile job. Then as she started managing herself, I switched over to a new job with good perks, but infact I was late to reach the desired post but I am happy to see my child becoming the topper and all rounder.

I think you need to care about your family and this is always going to be the top priority for most of us. But then starting out on a career is also for our family. If we can manage family with our career, it would be great.

But along with your ailing child you wanted to be aside of his/her rather than going to your office because your output in the office will also be not good. So keeping a low profile job to maintain the balance I feel is good.
