What was the dosage of Effexor XR that your doc started you out on?

My doctor started me out at 75mg of Effexor XR per day, but to be honest, I'm not noticing much of a difference. I was on Lexapro before, and I did see a drastic change in my mood and how I handled everything. But now that I'm on Effexor XR, I've just felt kind of depressed.
I know some people start out at a higher dosage, or usually work their way to a higher dosage, and I've also heard that you don't really feel the effects of it until well over 150mg.
So, I'm just curious. How are your dosages doing? Where did you start, and where did it go from there?

I am on Effexor at 75 mg. It is working wonders for me. I love it! I took lexapro and then zoloft, neither did anything for me.

That's great Tabitha. It's like I said above, some medications work for some people and not for others. It is a very individual/body chemistry type thing. I am glad you are doing well.

I think a normal dose is 150 mg. I have never heard of anyone taking more. I was on effexor for over a year, and coming off of it was the worst experience I have ever had. Many people experience withdrawal. Even though I came off it with the doctor recommended repeatedly cutting the dose in half, I still had vomitting for almost two months, and random muscle shakes in my arms for well over a year. It was horrendous. NOw I do not take any medication without thoroughly researching it first. I hope it works for you though!

I ran out one time and the muscle spasms were horrible! I didn't have any of the other things you did, but my fiancee sure got tired of me kicking him or punching him in the middle of the night!

I started out at 225mg...I felt better but still really wasn't making any outward improvement. Dr upped me to 375mg and I am finally starting to see some real change.
The only problem was that I stopped eating. I mean STOPPED. So, he put me on Remeron now two and I sleep like a baby and am eating again.
