Sounds stupid doesn't it. But I just got an email from a friend ( a very long one) that is kind of joking about these 2 theories. On a cruise ship you have it all. Medical care, tons of food, activities, travel and with the cost of decent elder care it is quite comparable. Espcially if you can get the discount cruises that are available now. On the other hand it was prison. If you commit a crime that carries a custodial sentence, and it did not cause too much grief, you could get excellent care in the prison system with a tv,meals, medical care etc. Not a couple of bad alternatives if you think about it.

You know, I never thought about it. As hard working middle class people, we cannot retire in this world. We can barely make it now. But those prison people have it made, don't they? They even go on stikes. What a system we have.

That is true ,but you dont have control of your life then and that would make it just very blah ,freedom is everything.

After reading some nursing home horrors, I think I'd give up freedom for better care

Lol no they are not but I think I would still prefer the Cruise Ship as I will not come of there with a Criminal record lol and I will see other Places not just the Prison Ground

If I was older and had no other choice I would not care about a criminal record. I'd just spend my last days in relative comfort

but in prison you are in there with alot of violent people and can get hurt, and you can not leave, where on a cruise ship they dock once and while and can go on land for a while. plus i would not want someone telling me when to eat and what i can eat. i like my rights and freedom and choices.

If it was a custodial sentence, you would not be in maximum security...so you would be safer.

Hey jail could be better than the way a lot of seniors are forced to live. I think I would prefer the cruise ship. Cruising the seas with all the other blue hairs,,,,ah, sounds nice.

Isn't is sad to think that prison is a better option for some

I would take the cruise ship because at least there I would have the freedom to take part in what activities I wanted and at the time I wanted. I really don't think I would like to be stuck on a cruise ship day in and day out but it is a way better alternantive than prison to me. It is kind of sad to think about how prisoners live better than many free people in the world. I mean we have to be so careful to make sure not to wrong by these prisoners yet we step all over each other in the free world. It does manke you think.

Prison would be free though, not all of us are going to have the money to spend the rest of our days on a cruise ship I would choose prison over some to the old folks homes I've heard of. It's really no laughing matter if you consider the alternative if you have no money....Thanks for your insightfulness

I'm not sure either appeals. I'd like to spend my old age in my own home carrying on as I've always done (I hope I stay healthy!). My nightmare would be if I was dependant on other people - either the people who run the cruise ship or the people who run the prison (and some care homes are like prisons these days).

I pick the cruise ship, but not for the reasons that you're probably thinking, which is that most people would consider it to be better than a prison cell. *laugh* I would pick the cruise ship because of the live entertainment. I actually know a lot of people who work on those ships in the musical shows that they have, and I've often wanted to go on a ship just to see what some of their shows are like. I'm such a fan of theatre and love seeing musical shows over, so it wouldn't bother me to be on the ship for a long time seeing the shows over and over.. it's already what I do over the summers, just not on a cruise ship, lol! So it would be great for me.
