I have a question about the Bible
January 22, 2007 6:45pm CST
I was raised Seventh Day Adventist. My mother and I didn't wear makeup, jewerly, or eat pork, the Seventh Day Adventist way. Now that I'm grown up, I wear makeup, etc. Last week someone told me it does not say anywhere in the Bible not to eat pork, wear makeup, or jewerly. Is this true? Please let me know, and where in the Bible can I find it?

in Isaiah 66:17, it says that eating pork and the abominations of the earth will come to an end. eating abominations as stated in Leviticus 11 was also proven to be bad for your health. therefor, if you want to ,meet the Lord, don't eat the things God commanded you not to eat. concerning the wearing of makeup and jewelries, in the book Peter saying that adorn yourselves with goodness and righteousness rather than wearing gold and other precio9us gems. wearing these shows your pride of what yoiu have and showing to the world that you have those kind of things.

In the Old Testament, God commanded the Israelites not to eat pigs or swine or hogs and that is pork. I think I have not come across anywhere in the Holy Bible that God prohibits wearing makeup or jewelry but there are some instances in which such may be likened to it and that might have been developed into a doctrine of some religions. As regards eating, the Lord said that what is taken into the mouth does not defile the man but what comes out of the mouth of him, that defiles him. That means whatever we eat is not bad but what bad we say is bad. Apostle Paul also said not to destroy the work of God through food or drinks. And so in the Christian religion, everything could be eaten; but some has controversy on eating blood. I will be posting additional Bible verses (I have already started some topics - see from my Profile) and I hope I could do that soon.

Bible also say to love everyone, to care for others, give to others who dont have. People are not doing these things. Do you give half of your belongings to those poor people out there. I dont think these material things like eating and wearing dont matter at all, as long as people dont do the other good things
