My Dr. told me 5-7 days was okay for a baby to not have a BM. I know, it seems like forever & it stressed me out soo bad... I was obsessed with it, because you just want your baby to poop.. but, the one time I actually waited it out-- she actually did poop on like day 5 or 6 & everything was fine.. it was just getting to that point of letting it be okay for it to be that long. I'm imagining your baby is 5 months or older if she is on rice-cereal and this is about the time my Dr. told me this.. but, if you have questions or conerns and your baby is upset because she isn't pooping..constipated.. stomach ache etc. then call your Dr. immediately.

I forgot to add this too. You can add very little prune juice into the rice cereal.. I had to do this too or the pureed prunes baby food. Not very much because it can cause a belly ache--like I'm thinking 1stp. to 1 TBSP. or also a warm bath can also help them poop.. just make sure the water is covering their belly and then rub their tummy in a circular motion-- this worked for my little girl.

Typically it is ok for 3-5 days expecially when starting cereal. Also molasis in formula bottle or just in a small amount of water will help. My son is one laxatives due to constipation but we were told to try th molasis and corn syrup first. There also sell a product called BABYLAX which is a liquid glycerin supposatory that works in seconds. We have always followed this train of thought: If they are uncomfortable help them along. If they are fine then dont do anything and wait for nature.

i think there is no cause for concern if it is soft.you can add some fruit juice to the rice cereal. My doctor told that there is no need to worry if there is no BM for about 5 days.Unless stools are firmly formed or come out in hard pellets, or if they cause pain or bleeding.

ok this is my second one for you tonight... i am liking the baby talk. give her some juice. it does not matter you can give her the gerber kind or juicy juice. if you do the jj just do half water and half juice. i found apple juice is the one that does it the best for my little girl. it will take her little belly a little bit to get use to it. you can also give her pears and stuff to help out. i use to mix the pears in the rice and it was great. my little one never had the problem. she is on people food now and it has been nuts trying to get a normal poopy. good luck! oh and she is a cutie

Thanks for the response i will have to try that for sure. I havn't given her any fruit as of yet. i read that you should wait till after veggies to give fruit because of their sweetness. Is there any veggies that have lots of fiber in it i could give her instead ?

My little guy hasn't been regular since the day he was born. Thet told me its ok to goa day or two without a bm, or to have just one a day (the schedule we're on now). As long as he's not showing discomfort, or straining to make it happen, they said to just leave him alone. If he is miserable, they suggested water or fruit juice, both seem to work well.
