I read this story about a woman who was stuck in the bathtub for four days. She was in Austria. She banged on the walls and tried to shout but noone heard her..what could she have done? She didnt have the strength to pull herself out.She was finaly rescued and treated for exposure..

She evidently didn't have a cell phone to call for help. They have senior alert necklaces available now that if someone gets into trouble, once they press the button, the dispatcher will send out the police or an ambulance to the home. These are offered through home security companies and are designed specifically for disabled or senior folks so they maintain their independence but still be able to call for help should a situation arise.

Where my in-laws lived they had cords that could be pulled to signal someone that they were in trouble. they lived in a senior building and they had them installed in the bedroom and the bathroom. I would assume that if they could install them there they could be installed in a reg ular home to alert someone of trouble.

This story is sad. To know that you have no one to check on you. I know my friends Mother lives on her own and none of her kids are close. They have made arrangements for someone to check on her everyday. Maybe they should do something like that.

I agree aster this someone should go and call reguarly. I believe it said that she was 83 years old. So , she will need some assistance. Its too hard on them without help and support. I dont know if she had any living family or not.

I saw that article and she did all she could. She was just lucky to have been found.

Maybe keep a phone within reach. Maybe have a whistle to blow on to get attention. Have someone she knows check on her every few days.

That would be terrible. Amazing that she was finally discovered. I assume she lived alone.

D ont you think an alarm system should be created or some type of signaling system because not everyone can afford cell phones. I just think people who live alone need something. I just think she was running out of time and it was such a close call.

that is a pretty interesting story. I do wonder what happened to get her stuck in the first place. I also think it is kind of sad that she had no one who wondered about her. I mean I know that I could not be stuck in anything for 4 days because my friends and family would certainly come looking for me before that. I guess maybe the old idea of phones in the bathroom aren't such a silly idea after all.

uhh, whoa// o.o' I wonder how she could have gotten stuck in the bathtub.. maybe she could have tried putting tonnes and tonnes of soap between where the friction lies on her body and the bathtub so it'd be slippery though easier for her. If this kind of thing happens often, I don't think she should live alone or something any longer..
