My writing group gave me a gift card for Indigo as a Christmas present because of all the work I do. I had never shopped at Indigo before so I decided to go in, open an account and purchase a couple of CD's. I finished the purchase BEFORE I put my gift card into my account so now my order is going to be charged to my credit card and I still have $40.00 in my online account. How stupid is that? Fortunately for me, I only spent about $45 and I got free shipping. It won't kill me financially but now I have to find something else to buy with the gift card. Guess I should have read ALL the instructions first. All it said was I would go back to gift card after transaction was completed. Not!

I did something similar with a hotel voucher I had. I went online to book the hotel and booked it and thought that when the time came to pay the balance after my stay at the hotel that I'd present my voucher and all would be good. Unfortunately, the site I booked the hotel with debited my credit card, so I still have the voucher. I should have phoned the hotel to book and told them that I had a voucher. Ah well, it just means I'm going to have take another holiday at some stage. LOL!

Oops! I hope that you are able to find something else to buy that you would really like, with your gift card. I'm sorry that this happened to you :( I have a gift card to use right now, myself, and I was not thinking of using it online, but I could. Now I know, if I do decide to take that route, to be careful! Thank you for the reminder and the heads-up about this, although mine is for Target and might work differently. I would not have wanted to accidentally get charged to my credit card, as I truly can't afford it. So I really appreciate you sharing your story. ^_^

Well if this could help other people, than it was worth the post. Hopefully no one else will do what I did. Thanks for responding.
