This new law which has come up in california which prohibits parents from spanking their kids who are 3 and under. It also says that parents will be put in jail for 1 year if they violate this law. The reason for bringing in such a law is to avoid violence in children after they grow up. Children who are excecessively spanked during childhood grow into violent adults. So to avoid this violence they have implemented this law. Lets assume...a parent beat his/her kid. What greatest disadvantage could that kid face. Besides it is less than 3 years old. Dont you think the kid will be put at a greater loss if the parent is kept in jail for a whole one year for violating the law. The kid misses its parent and some precious other things. Besides who will take care of that kid.

I totally agree, Where will they child go for that year? Also I realize there are some crazy people out there, that are abusive and this is why this law is being enforced I guess, but for any general parent this makes it hard. In a child 1=3 lets say what other measures of disipline can you use? At that age its hard to ground them, or time outs because they dont generally understand that, or have something to be grounded from. I havent spanked my children for awhile, too scared Ill end up being considered "abusive".

But for a few crazy people, why put too many at such great inconvinience. A law should benefit maximum number of people.
