Do you let your kids cook?

One night a week my boys cook for the family. Sometimes if the nights are crazy, they will cook breakfast on Sunday. It is something that they enjoy. My oldest loves to barbeque, and they all love scouring recipe books to find something that everyone will eat. They are 14, 8 and 7.

My 10 year old daughter loves to cook. She is always in the kitchen helping me make dinner. I haven't let her cook by herself yet any big dinners. She has made cake and cupcakes by herself-- all except taking them out of the oven. And she does scramble eggs and make toast for breakfast for both of us on saturdays. She gets a big kick out of being a helper! She is always looking for new recipes to try out and we make them together!

Good for you. I get a magazine called "Quick Cooking" and also "Taste of Home". The boys love the Quick Cooking one and find alot of recipes in there. I'm glad that you have the patience to let them cook!

My son is too young to cook yet but if I'm making cakes or cookies etc he like to help. I know a lady though who's daughter is responsibe for cooking at least one meal a week. It's just the two of them and her daughter loves this plan. It teaches her to cook and be responsible.
