I've seen a few discussions recently on favorite childhood toys and what they were, etc, etc... and they got me thinking about the things that I love from my own childhood. I had a few toys that stuck out in my memory, some, of course, more than others. I recently went on e-bay and purchased a Tiffany Taylor doll that was identical to one that I had as a kid. There are a couple of others that I would like to find as well, a Baby Crissy doll and a Baby that-a-way. Would you or have you gone to e-bay searching for remnants of your own childhood? If so, what were they?

Would you believe that I loved my Speak and Spell? ha ha I would play with it for hours learning how to spell words. My mother had gotten it for me to help me learn because I was behind in my class. But if she would have looked closer to the problem, I would have been able to see her. Of she I say, she would have seen that I needed glasses. I loved the Speak and Spell because I could see and I learned that I was not dumb! I would like to get the same toy for my daughter that loves to learn with hand held games! I bet that she would love it. But I have never thought to look for something like that in ebay. I guess I should give it a look.

You really should have a look! I was shocked to find some of my childhood favorites on there and jumped to bid on them. I love to reminisce about times gone by.

Shrinking Violet 1966 - This is Shrinking Violet, when you pull her string she talks, her lips move and eye lashes flutter. She says "I'm shrinking violet, I have butterflies in my tummy"
I've looked on ebay at some of the toys from the 60's and 70's. I can never justify buying them but I do enjoy browsing. I still have my "Shrinking Violet" and "Mrs. Beasly" dolls. I have another that I can't remember the name of that I got for christmas in 1966. I had a baby feels so real, well I still have it but my niece wrote all over it when she was 2..lol There was a doll in the 70's called Gypsy. I wanted it for my doll collection but didn't have the 14.00 to buy it. When I did finally have the money the doll was gone. I started searching for it on ebay 2 years ago but haven't found it yet. I can't remember who made it but I remember I loved the eyes. They had like a star burst in them and I just loved it. Oh well one will turn up someday I imagine. I also had a little thumbalin that moved her head around when you pulled the string. I still have her too but she doesn't move anymore.

Believe it or not I have been tempted in the past. As a child I spent most of my time on my own, I didn't have any brothers or sisters so I had to occupy my time by myself. I used to spend hours building from lego! I tell you lego was wonderful and the things I used to build with it, I used to create my own town and railway station with it! It was fun... Lego is still in use, especially in schools and when I worked for two years in a Primary School the children had access to tonnes of lego, I would have been in my glory! Needless to say I enjoyed playing with the lego with the children! I wonder why I didn't get into construction when I grew up! LOL....

I haven't searched for anything from my childhood that I would like to purchase. I have come across things when out browsing a flea market that sparks a memory.

Wow, I hadn't really thought of music as part of my childhood memories, but you're right about that. I've held on to all of the music I had when I was younger (I even have the first record album of Tina The Ballerina) that I was given as a child! I wish I still had the red plastic cased record player that came with it, but I feel pretty lucky to still have the record in the first place.

Yes, I did as a matter of fact. I bought myself a Monchhichi that I had when I was younger. In case you don't know what that is. It is a little monkey that sucks its thumb. I had a huge collection of stuff animals when I was younger and since we moved a lot, my mom made me give them away. Including my monchhichi. So, I bought it back.

I can't think that I had any toys that I really loved enough to want to repurchase them .. I think my memories of childhood toys will be more the ones I didn't get bought .. I longed and yearned for a Mechano set .. I didn't get it as I was a 'mere' girl and Mechano was for boys .. I wanted a pedal car but again that was a boys toy .. and I was desperate to get my hands on a set of Dinky cars .. but once again they never arrived, more boys toys .. All I got was sissy dolls and prams .. but me being me I took the wheels off the pram one day, slung a plank across them, tied on a bit of string and was having a great time until I came to a corner and crashed heavily .. I got spanked for taking the wheels off the pram and then spanked again for crashing DOH!! And I would still love a big set of Mechano .. Ebay here I come heheheh !!!

I haven't bought or searched for anything similar to what I had as a kid, I would buy anything that brings good memory to me if I came across it but actually i still keep a few items that i loved in my childhood, mostly cars models and small plastic soldiers that i use now to decorate my place but they mean much to me than just decoration :)

I must admit when I was a kid I loved watching The Man From UNCLE on tv and recently I found a couple of bits of memorabilia on eBay that brought it all flooding back. I have to say I did bid for, and win, a Man From UNCLE T shirt.

I have went online to search for old tv shows I used to watch back in the 80's. Old cartoons and toys form my past and some old records (vinyl records). How I wish I kept my old toys in good condition so that I could either sell them on ebay or even pass them down to my kids.. ow ell, I was a kid, I didn't know any better.

oops, I forgot to mention my items. Old tv shows like Knight Rider, Thundercats, Transformers and He-Man. Old New Wave records like the Cure. Toys such as my G.I. Joe, Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, He-Man and Matchbox (Hotwheels). I tried e-bay but it was just too expensive to aquire.

I have several favorite toys in mind. But they are boys toys...like Block City, Kenner Girder Sets, car models from the 60's, chemistry sets, some games. I know if I go on Ebay and start hunting, I won't be able to stop. So I don't. I still have the old Lionel train and many of the Tonka trucks. I really don't want to relive my childhood and collect more things. It is a nice thought and memory though.

I have a few times thought about looking on Ebay for toys I had as a child, but than got to thinking where in the heck would I display them once I got them. I have an extensive collection of cat figurines and they pretty much take up every knook and cranny of shelving space I have in this house. Although I still have a bunch of my cassettes that I got as a child. A bunch of 80's type stuff and to this day I am surprised I haven't wore them out as much as I have listened to them over the years.
