To be honest with you I have so many jobs I can't even remember. But I think I may have spent 2 years with one job.

I have had a lot of jobs. I suppose one lasted 14 years, in a self employed situation. Other than that, 1 to 2 years average.

I worked in a daycare center for 7 years and then after I finished nursing school, I worked in a facility for 8 years. Then new management came in and got rid of everyone who made too much money. They fired 10 people in a week! I was so mad and so hurt. I just couldn't believe they would do that to me. I thought the bosses liked me, but it just proves when new management comes in, nobody is safe. The new director got fired after less than a year.

Around the 2-3 month mark, I get past the point where I'm all energetic and trying to impress everyone and start to settle in. There's been quite a few jobs that didn't make it very far past that point. The longest that I've stayed at any one job is a year, and the last few months of it was pure torture. I started out in the warehouse and worked my butt off to get an office job. I took the first opening that they had and it was just an awful fit for me. To make matters worse, the person above me quit and I ended up with all of his responsibilities and none of his paycheck. I've pretty much given up on trying to make something out of crap jobs. I'd rather just live poor for a while and finish my degree.

The longest job I have ever been employed at was with the school system. I worked at our local high school. The job was great but the need for year-round employment drove me to find other work.

My longest was nearly 5 years in the military. However, my last job that I was with for 2 years, I would have still been with today if it were not for my partner's job transfer. My partner's job has required me to move frequently after I got out of the service. I guess it was my turn to follow him around. I think I liked it better when I was in the military and he followed me! ha ha

I would have to say my own business is the one I have kept the longest. I have had my own company since 1987 but really only the last 6 years have I been my own boss and love it. Before that 5 years was the longest I have worked for any one person or company.

I seem to be an 11 year person. lol The longest jobs I've ever had was 11 years as an EMT/EMD/CPR-I and then when I burned out of that (was almost a clock tower sniper by the time I got out lmao) I went to work with my husband and I worked with him for 11 years. I have old injuries that really won't let me do that kind of work anymore (painting and sheetrock). Now I just work at home on the computer and I have to say I like it much better. :-)

I think that my longest is about 2 1/2 years also. There's just no job security anymore. Too many buyouts, layoffs, etc. I'd love to find a job that I love and stay there for a long time (or be my own boss). Also, seniority doesn't seem to mean as much as it used to. It used to be the last one hired, the first one fired (laid off), but not anymore. There just seems to be too many ways to work around these things now.

9 1/2 years- the only reason I left was because they were moving to NY and I live in NJ - they weren't offering travel expenses so I told them I would not commute- otherwise I would still be working there. My husband worked at his job 7 yrs and just made s switch.

The longest I ever kept a job was six years, at which point I gave it up to do my current job which is a stay at home mom. Twelve years at one job is a long time, I think I would get bored after awhile unless of course the job was always changing, that would make a difference. I don't like doing the same thing day in and day out, it gets to monotonous.
