Have you ever been addicted to a drug?

I personally have never been addicted myself, but right now I have a friend who is addicted to a drug. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I want to seek him help but I do not know where to start. If anyone in the mylot community can help with past expieriences or ways to help. It will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
