What do you do to relax?

Life is very stressful these days - busy jobs, traffic jams, looking after the kids and working as well - so we all need to relax and "de-stress" sometimes. Some people listen to music, others go to the gym, others read. My way to relax is just to lock myself in the bathroom and lie in a long, hot bath scented with lavendar for an hour - it really calms me down! So how do you relax when you've had a bad day?

I usually just get into some comfortable clothes and watch TV or a movie with a nice snack and drink. Sometimes I'll chill in a friends basement and enjoy some more adult relaxation and watch a movie or football game.

hahhaa, nah I'm pretty laid back, I don't really pick teams and don't really care if my team loses. I used to play, and personal skill is all that matters, not how hard you can root for someone.

Just hope your team wins or it could cause you more stress! LOL! Most of the guys I know get very upset when their team loses! Thanks for your answer.

I relax in various ways, it all depends on how i'm feeling. If i've had a really stressful and hectic day then I usually relax through spending some quiet time meditating and then listening to some relaxing music, or sitting quietly and reading a book. The alternative to this (if i'm feeling rich) is a takeaway, lots of chocolate and a video. If i'm in a bad mood then I usually find that releasing the pent up energy by exercising helps me to relax.

Bubble Baths - so refreshing and sooooo relaxing
Am like you a hot bubble bath does it for me but since we moved the tub here sucks so not very relaxing. So now I just curl up and watch an old movie. I just love to watch b/w movies.

Good question. By the time I get home on weekdays, it is also quite late. So I have dinner, then rest. I guess the best remedy is to sleep it off. I also listen to classical music. Studies have shown that classical music helps plants to grow better. Rock music actually kills the plant.

There's only a few choices here for me to relax. There are no jacuzzis or a hot shower, only cold here by the way. I have no bathtub lol Life in the Philippines. So what I do is go to my room, relax in my bed with a good book and a soft music in the background. No noise, no dog barking, no one around the area to annoy me.. Safe and away in my room. Sometimes too i go out and do window shopping and then eat even by myself. That still relaxes me :)

Thanks fir your answer. I agree that being alone and quiet can sometimes relax us a lot. Life is always so noisy and hectic - it is nice to be totally quiet.

I'll usually try to exercise to release some tension. I like to listen to relaxation CDs, read, and drink chamomile tea.

Yes I have heard that camomile tea has very good relaxation properties - the same as lavendar. Thanks for your answer.

Music does the de-stressing job for me, mostly. Another very effective way for me to get away from all the stress is to take a day off and read a good novel, relaxing as much as possible. This may not sound good for many of you, but it works well for me.

generally people go out for a peaceful walk with their mates or close themselves in a room for pacifying the low sound music into their ears. i would prefer the latter option as i am yet to find my mate(lolz). but a peaceful walk is more better and soothing for your body. is it not?

Walking is very good for you - yes - for your body and your mind. And I'm sure you will find your mate one day soon! Thanks for your answer.

Having 2 kids, I don't know the meaning of relaxing, haha. Kidding aside, my idea of relaxing is having an "alone" or a "myself" time, where I don't have to tend for my kids for even just a few minutes: either to take a long shower, have a meal where I dont have to rush, or doing my hobbies like scrapbooking, watching dvd, surfing the net or just laying down on the bed without being disturbed. A few minutes is enough.

Yes - having "me" time is very important. I think a lot of women miss out on it vecause of work and family cmmitments- but - as you say - it really only needs a few minutes. Thanks for your answer.

I love the sea too. You are lucky that you live near enough to go. I used to live by the sea, but now I am a couple of hours' drive away so can only go at weekends. Thanks for answering.

i meditate and submit to the sound of bossa nova while in the white light of a tibetan incense stick. meditation is the best way to de-stress and unwind for it releases all your negative vibes leaving you with the deepest sense of inner peace. you should try it. and feel light from within. =) but be careful.

To realx i generally go to y beloved and chat with her for sometime... even if its on phone it fills me with a lot of energy and am as fresh as new. And if she is not free or any other problem then i turn towards music for thats the next thing that sooths my mind.

Relaxing? What's that? The most relaxation that I get is taking a ten minute shower in the morning before my three little ones decide to wake up. I have a two month old, a fourteen month old, and a three year old. They are a huge handful! But to "de-stress" I don't get that.

Oh my! Three children under the age of 3! That must be so hard - and you have my utmost admiration. You ought to try and make some time for yourself though - we all need that! Though I do understand how hard it must ne for you. Thanks for postng.

To be able to relax after such a bad day, I lay in bed. Sometimes, I listen to music. Sometimes, I just go out to the balcony and gaze at the stars.

That's a very good question. I have three children and i can tell you one thing it's very hard to relax. Somethings that i do, are: taking a long shower/bath, reading a book, doing a puzzle, or even playing a game on the computer.
