Tips to try to quit???

Well, I have been smoking for about 13 years now, and I really want to quit. Only problem with that is that when I try... well, it just doesn't work. I get really grouchy, eat a lot, get depressed, and very touchy. I have tried so many things... I can't use the patch because I am allergic to adhesives, can't chew the gum cuz it raises your heart rate and I have tachycardia. So I have tried smoking outside to cut down, sucking on lollipops, chewing regular gum, brushing my teeth every time I want a cigarette, going cold turkey, and hypnosis (which worked for about 2 months). If I really try hard enough I can quit, but as soon as something happens or I am upset about something, I fire right back up. ANY ONE WITH POINTERS????

you know, i just want to share this, but before i begin i must say that i smoke too... anyway my dad is a heavy smoker for like eternity... then one day about three years ago... he just stopped, he was just smoking the previous night and when he woke up he just stop... so i guess there is no real pointers in quitting smoking, sometimes we make a big deal about it, but that truth is we just don't want to stop in the first place, we just make ourselves and the people around us believe that we want to stop and sometimes we believe it ourselves, i mean my dad says if you want to quit, then quit, don't make a big fuss over it... i guess he is right.

I finally quit about 2 years ago. It won't lie, it was hard but I was really ready to quit. I used SmokeAway.com. It is herbs and they actually worked for me. My friend used the new laser treatments and they worked great. But remember both of us were really ready to quit. I think that is the key, if you are not really ready it won't happen. And it won't be easy. I got headaches and had trouble sleeping for a few months, but it was worth to be smoke free.

I think that you are right in a lot of ways... it is strong will that gets you through the first few days... then you deal with the severe cravings... ;-)

I have tried this, and while it works sometimes, it doesn't work for the worst of the cravings. And as for a psychologist, that takes money, something I don't have enough of to spare... maybe if I quit smoking... LOL

Yep dear its true..I can understand as I am also facing same issue.Quitting ciggaretes was my new year resolution however I failed to follow.......I took advices from many of my good friends and a psycologist as well which I can share with you.....They all conclude same thing.....Smoking is nothing but just an addiction.......There is only one thing that can rather that wul surely help you and that is none other than your will power.......willingness........determination.Just decide and stop smoking same time....dont think abt consequences bcoz nothing is going to happen.......Smoking is the worst addiction so I request you to please leave it as soon as possible...All the Best

Thanks for the response... I know that it takes will, but it also takes a stressless period of time... at least for me.

Smoking is really a addiction and not easy to quit all of sudden. But good thing is there are many rehabilition center for helping to get rid of these habits. Try them and make a great change in your life.
