If Only It Were This Easy!!

I suffer from depression myself, and my mother drives me nuts, so I can pass this along with the best of humour. I read this in the February edition of Reader's Digest, Canada. "The FDA approved the first ever transdermal patch for the treatment of depression," Tina Fay announced on Saturday Night Live. "Simply remove the backing, and press the patch firmly over your mother's mouth." I am going to call my doctor today, and see if I can get a prescription for a lifetime supply of these!!

LOL!!!!!! That is too funny. My mother does have this tendency to drive the family crazy at times, so this would definitely help us! LOL. But if only it would solve all of life's problems. Unfortunately, the only problems I have in life don't come from my mother *laugh* But this is really funny, thanks! I got a good chuckle out of it, which was a really nice way to start my day. It's been a long time since I looked at a Reader's Digest, and now I miss it! They have some pretty entertaining stuff in there ^_^

I have to deal with depression a bit myself because of a heart attack that couldn't be fixed. I was a pretty active guy and now I can't even lift 10 pounds or run or jump so I can get a bit down. That sucks. I love Reader's Digest and keep one in the bathroom all the time. When you get those special patches send a few my way. :)

I get more laughs out of that little Digest. I even read the same jokes and stories years later for another good laugh.

LOL. It may reduce your depression. What about your beloved mother? Her depression may go up in double speed if she came to know that she becomes the object of your alternative remedy. My suggestion is try something else which will benefit to both of you in the long run. I think meditation will help you both to outcome this uncalled for depression.

Good invention. LOL.. I have some questions about this patch; 1) does it work? Who tried it? 2) Is this patch only for mother use? how about other people? I mean, for example, mother in law? 3) Where can I get it? how much does a patch cost? 4) who is the inventor of this great patch?

The timing of finding this discussion is ironic, and very much appreciated. Now, where can I get those patches? ;)

The better thing for u would be to move off to a new independent house if u can afford or else try to be busy all the time or get a job or something. This will really help u out.And try to find some activity in which both ur mom and u can spend sometime together and get to know each other. That way she will atleast try to understand u atlest a little bit and wont drive u nuts.

I never had trouble with my mother but I know how some mothers can be. Better yet, my ex mother-in-law was a good reason for those patches. I bet my children who are now 25 and 26 feel that way sometimes. But, I have earned the right to be a thorn in their side occasionally. I think back to all the things they said and did as teenagers and they definitely deserve it once in a while. He! He!

Depression is a serious illness so of course SNL has to make jokes about it. As another Danish Canadian, rather a Canadian with Danish origins( I was born here in Canada) I found the Danish treatment for SAD is to take a suntanning session.

I recommend that you embark on a heart to heart talk with your mom. She may not be aware of the effects of what she is doing to you. She is most probably thinking that doing all that straightens your path of life because, it is her way of injecting values and corrective measures to the wrong ways she may have observed in you. For you however, instead of achieving this, you are annoyed. There are high possibilities that none of whatever mom babbles about gets anywhere she intends to. Tell her about how you feel and how you want her to go about it.
