and I would like to know which areas are best to live in. I have been to St. Pete, and I really like this area. I also have an aunt who lives in Safety Harbor, but I am not sure how far this is from Tampa. Could anyone who lives in Tampa or who has lived in Tampa before give me some ideas on what areas are great to live in, raise a child and are not so expensive?

New Tampa is actually the Tampa Palms area and is pretty expensive to live in, but also has excellent neighborhoods and schools. The taxes are also high there. Your best bet would probably be Lutz, which is very close to Tampa in Hillsborough county or Wesley Chapel/Land O'Lakes area which is still being built up so it is cheaper to live in and most of the schools are new which is a plus. South Tampa is cheap in some areas, but the neighborhoods can be bad and Temple Terrance is a definite no. Safety Harbor where your relative is is a fairly good area to live in as are parts of Largo which is not far from there. If I can help you out anymore let me know, good luck!

Thank you so much for your response. What do you mean by the new Tampa? Have they done something new to the city that makes it a safer place to live? I would like to learn as much as possible so I will be able to find a good place to live.

I live in Largo it is on the St Pete/Clearwater side of Tampa Bay. There are a number of cities on this side of the bay that are nice. Some are more expensive than others. The whole Tampa Bay area is getting more expensive quickly. I am sure they are still cheaper than Miami, but I don't think it will be a huge difference. If you go farther north from Safety Harbor you can get to some of the areas where they are still growing and are therefor a little cheaper. Areas like Hudson, New Port Richey or Spring Hill are north in Pasco, but they are more like living in the boonies. Probably for you coming from Miami, New Tampa would be good. It would be about the same level of crowds and bustle, but still cheaper.
