How far back can you trace your family

I can't believe that no one responded to your question. I can't say that I'm a geneology nut, but my great grandmother was. From my kids all the way back we have 18 generations. She started by interviewing all of her living relatives for all the details they could remember. I've used Family Tree Maker for years to keep track of all her research electonically and adding in my own information when I get it. There are now over 900 people in my tree. There are tons of free research stuff on the internet.
