African violets are my favorite. I currently have 54 plants. They are so easy for me to grow and bloom. When I have to repot one I have a hard time throwing away a leaf that may break off. So in another pot it goes. Two years ago I had a garage sale and had not planned this but ended up selling 10 of them. Is anyone else as crazy about AV's as I am?

OH, I love African violets too. I'm, I guess, as crazy as you are. But don't know how to repot them. I usually just buy a pot or two from the market. I know how adorable they look, pleasing to the eye, and captivates the beholder. One can't resist a second look at them.

Hi Jemina, if the plant is pretty big you have to be real careful not to break any of the leaves off. I get my new pot as ready as I can and then place my right hand on top of the plant and tip it over. Sometimes I have to tap gently to get it to come out of the pot. I try to repot them when they are not blooming. It takes practice, but it works. good-Luck!

I've got 4 AV's right now, 2 I rescued from the store and 2 were given to me by another AV lover.lol I've been thinking of putting them inside a 10 gallon aquarium to keep the humidity level where they need it. The light is also a benefit, which keeps my window sills free. :0

That sounds like a really cool idea. I once had this glass chest that was pretty big and it opened from the top. I put 4 mini's in it and it looked really neat and the plants did well to. I have also put mini's together in a big basket pot deal, but they did not do well at all.

My Grandmother loved the African Violets. I also have a friend from my DD's Birth Board who belonged to a gardening club specifically for African Violets! And they even have plant sales and everything wich I thought was soooooo neat. Unfortunatly I'm not good with houseplants, rather the ones outside wich sux in a way being in a climate that gets snow for 3-4 mo's during the year. Nothing wrong with selling them off. 1 you are sharing your love with others 2 brightening up someone elses home 3 making a lil profit too ;)
