Money or Presents?

October 8, 2006 5:24pm CST
As we get older there are less ‘things’ we want for our birthdays/Christmas, the extended family tends to stockpile us with body spray and shower gels and closer family members often give money for the lack of ideas. Though I really love opening present, I don't care if money-wise I would of gotten alot more, I find the joy in ripping open the paper. How about you? Would you prefer the money or the enjoyment of presents?

If I am giving out money instead of a gift, I still wrap it up just so that person can still open a present. I do like getting the money or gift cards, that way I can go and pick out exactly what I want and not receive something they 'think' I will like.

Let's just say I have more lotion that I know what to do with. Close family and friends know me enough to know what to get me like books and cd's they know I would enjoy family that's not as close give money. I would just be happy with a card wishing me a happy birthday.

Hello. Merry Christmas to you! This year is tight, so we are only buying for the grandchildren. All our children are getting pointsettias, giant ones, from the greenhouse where I work. The three children who own their own homes will be getting small fur trees. They are about eight inches tall with a small red bow attached to them, and a shiney pot cover of red mylar. (Mylar is that very thick, shiney wrapping paper.) I used to give 'care packages' with toothpaste, shampoo, soap and other toiletries; enough to last the year. I myself don't even like to open anything. Once you do that , it's all over, there is no more suspense. Mostly I like to collect the wrappings and containers and the Christmas cards. That happens when you're a pack-rat! Have a wonderful Christmas!

The unwrapping is the special part, the sensation can't be repeated. Oh and Happy Christmas!

Honestly, I don't believe adults should be exchanging presents with one another, except maybe in the case of a husband and wife. Otherwise, it just gets silly.

Something really nice and small but designed especially with the recipients interests in mind.

While money is great, it requires no thought. I would rather have something to open and something that I know was bought just with me in mind. It doesn't even have to be expensive: a book by one of my favorite writers, anything related to a mouse, anything related to a yorkie, yankee tarts, etc. It is the surprise of not knowing what is behind that pretty wrapping!

I'd prefer the gifts. Money is great, but it's just not the same. I love Christmas and want to open gifts. Having nothing under the tree would bug me. I generally get the things I want anyways that I wouldn't normally buy myself.

WELL, although I do not like to give money as present, sopmetimes I do. Especially when i know that the person is for example at the universituy, they often prefer to receive some money instead of a dull present.

I honestly prefer money so I could add them up and then buy the things that I really want. But of course I also appreciate other presents that I receive. No matter what these gifts are. At least the people who gave them thought of me. And as they say, "It's the thought that counts." :)

As of now? I'd rather choose money just if it's a million. I just want to be practical for the meantime especially I badly needed it.

for this occassions i would prefer presents because it reflects on how the giver valued your being through what is inside his presents. However in other ocassions such as new year and etc i would prefer money!
