I'm thinking of taking a break from myLot.......

United States

Why? Because there are no original topics to post to. I wish these repeat topics could be weeded out because it would make myLot a much better place to be. I don't know what the remedy is but there has to be one. I've seen where the idea of a moderator has been put down everytime the subject is brought up but that might be the answer. That way the posts are weeded through and we only get original topics to post to. Just a thought. Is there anyone else thinking of taking a break, too?

yeah it is becoming every day more difficult to find intersting topics ! The way the topics are sorted is very chaotic on mylot ! I think it should be more like in a forum, with different sections and moderators in each section ! Maybe the problem could be solved that way !

If not a forum something similar. These is becoming too chaotic. The topics that have already been posted but worded differently need to be deleted.

A lot of times I've seen equal topics to mine but I don't think that I've been copied. This forum is immense (now MyLot population is 63,153!!!) one of the greatest forum on the net! It's NORMAL to see double topics! Sometime I've seen that similar topics was posted in the same moment. It's not correct to cancel the last, only for 1 second. In my opinion, it's not correct discussion with 20 or more reply only because they're similar to other topics. I think a discussion can be evolved in diffrent way even if the theme is the same of another topic. If a person post a topic with 2 reply and then another person post a similar topic with 50 reply ... which topic you cancel?? It's not correct. MyLot must punish only peolpe that "copy and past" topics not peolpe that posts similar discussion without knowing this. MyLot is a chaotic forum, it's true. In fact, is difficoult looking for the discussion that I want to post and found it before posting. I alwais try but results of every types come out and many times these results have anything to do with the topics I've looked for! If I search a topic digit all the phrase... many result appear.. many result that have nothing to do with my search!! Then, If I don't find the discussion that I would post, I post it! Then, if there is a similar post to mine.. I don't know what to say... because I've searched! But I've not found it! Come on, here we're TOO MANY! Its' IMPOSSIBILE not to make similar to topics to others. IMPOSSIBILE. I'm against to cancell similar topics. I agree to cancel only "copy and past" topics. Sorry for my english, I'm italien ;-) I hope that you can understand what I want to say...

I agree that some times it is difficult to find something to post to. And I'm not the kind that can start a good discussion - not sure why... I do wish that the interests were more structured. I have interests that I am the only one in because someone else worded it a bit differently and now there are 2 (or more) interests that are the same but have a slightly different wording. That I do find confusing.

Taking break is not the solution of any problem.Stay with it and let us find out tghe solution. The solution is probably in the hands of mylot authority.Mylot authority should develop an software which can scan such repeated topics and then warn the poster members for the same and software should not allow further such repeated topics if the content of the topic are same. What do you think?

I'm gonna play devil's advocate and point out that your topic of discussion isn't original (and there for is hypocritical). It is yet another plea for someone to come in and post quality content and also for myLot admins to actively police postings. We do not need a moderator. There is a report button. Report discussions that are in violation of the rules. Negative bad responses/discussions (not ones you don't agree with, but ones that one liners or just "I agree" type crap). It basically gives us the ability to each act as moderator. We report things, then those are reviewed and acted upon if need be. They do weed stuff out from time to time... Then of course there are a number of discussions on "Why did my earnings drop?" I don't really think that a topic of discussion should never be repeated. That's not how most of us operate in real life is it? Oh well... It's more of an issue of figuring out what you want. If you don't want to use myLot, don't. If you do, then stay. No one is forcing you to do either. Oops... Not to be a rules stickler though, but your picture is in violation since you don't hold the copyright for that image. : ) I promise I won't tell though since it seems like many many many people here break that rule.

I'm pleaing for you to do anything. If you wanted to post to this topic you are free to do so. If you didn't you were free not to. As far as my pic goes I got it off a site where it was public domain so I don't need the copyright.

The only repeated posts I see are the "there are no original topics". Therefore, if you don't like it you shouldn't have posted this in the first place. Just my opinion of course. As for your break.. I periodically take breaks from mylot. I've been a member since October and I've taken a few. Just came back from one actually :).

seriously... even i m of the same opinion.. As a matter of fact i ve logged into myLot after i think 10 days or so... it becomes boring going through the same kind of discussions of love problems, family problems, yak and what not... we need to get out better discussions.... And actually now that i ve had a small break, i find some nice discussions to go around... I think it is always good to keep taking small breaks in between, so that the old discussions weed out, and u get to see new ones...

yes i agree to you that there are no original topics to post to but why take a break when this is offering so much and the best part is that mylot engages you in your free time when you tend to get bored.i will never take a break and suggest you dont either so just keep posting.

Nope, it is not getting to me yet. I have been busy and not able to post as much as I would like, but there is really no way to stop the repetitve questions, since no one is on here at the same time, and can;t possibly know what was asked, and probably won't do a search for it first. Maybe you could take a few days off to refresh your mind, and then come back in a few days and try again and see if it still bugs you.

I am sure they can probably look for keywords in the topic, and stop some postings. I think you might want to come up with your own creative topics. I am not taking a break. I usually ignore the repeat topics.

Hello. I kind of know where you are coming from on this. I have been here a week now and I haven't had a whole lot of problems yet. I do, sometimes see some of the same topics, but inside each topic, seems to be unique. some topics are easier to realte to than others it seems. I wish there was some way that mylot could kinf of bank the topics we already posted to, so we don't open that topic again and see we already posted a reply to it. I rate my topics that I respond to and that is how I see that I have already responded to it.

If you can't find anything original to respond to, then you should post something original. Speaking as a newbie, I have already found that you don't always come up with what you want in searches, and all similar posts are not intentional. I searched and did not find anything about a particular subject, posted my own discussion, then found one like I was looking for in the related discussions. I guess you never know. I have only been here for a short time and I've seen several similar discussions, but as long as you can come up with something original to post, then you can keep expanding the variety of topics available.
