Animals found starving, resorting to cannibalism Washington Township, MI (US) Sanilac County Sheriff deputies seized about 40 starving animals and buried more than 30 dead ones found Jan 1 on a farm on East Marlette Road. Deputies said the animals were so starving they were eating their own babies to stay alive. The 21-year-old resident of the farm was arrested and is expected to face multiple felony animal-cruelty charges. "He said he just got feed here the last few days but hasn't been around to feed them because he's been out partying," This just sickens me...Upcoming Court Dates: Jan 29, 2007: pretrial hearing . http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/10458/

That just makes me sick. What an a$$. I am forever bringing home starving and abused animals. There is just no end to the cruelty. We just got 4 horses from the local constabulary to try and bring them back to health. We are an emergence rescue untill animal control or the SPCA arrive. There horses had been stolen and were hidden in a shed with no food and water for God knows how long. I have to start them slowly back on their feed. So I am out about 8 times a day to give them snacks untill they can handle regular feeding again. I still am very afraid that we are going to loose one of them though. Well I do what I can. Horses actually get bleeding ulcers when they are under such extreme stress. The vet remains hopefull and so will I.

That's great that you can help. I know how stressful it can be. I sure hope the horse pulls through. We've had a couple that we had to do the same thing. Luckily all of our made it.

Ally, how wonderful that you have time and space and WILLINGNESS to help rescue animals. I really wish I had the time and space, I have the willingness! Maybe when I retire I can finally help! I'm gone all day to work so I can't help presently.

This is horrific. How people can be so cruel to animals is beyond me. If you can't care for a pet, don't get one. If you have a pet and no longer are able to properly care for it, give it up for adoption or find a good home for it.

Hungry - Who's for lunch?
That is dreadful. I know that animals eat there newborns if they are not healthy. To think at human forces an animals to do something so cruel that could have been avoided is so terrible that I hope he get punished with substantial jail time. Prefably with NO food and water. Or even better yet in a cage with a man eating tiger.

That is deplorable. I had tears in my eyes as I read about some of the conditions under which some of the animals were found. This person has no conscious obviously. I really hope the courts send him to jail for a long while.
