What is your view on the 10 star rating? How do you think we actually get it?

Hi. I have been here for 1 week now. I now have a 10 star rating. I'm not sure actually how I got it but, I do know that I am working very hard here. I personally think it is the amount of work you put into mylot, myself. What do you think? i know I sure type my fingers to the bone daily here. I have met quite a few friends. I have alos posted to some great discussions and replied to as many as I can get to in a days time. how about you all? Are the any 10 star people out there with a different view than what I have? Please share with us your thoughts and experiences here at mylot. I would like to hear from any of you who want to respond. Please tell us if you seen any difference here when you hit the 500 or 1000 post mark also. I'm stll working on mine.

Well, being near both the 10 star ranking AND the 1000 post-count, this looks like just the appropriate thread for me to reply. I don't know what else is missing for my reputation as far as star ranking is concerned achieved the top status. I do post a lot, but a lot of quality go into those posts and time, so if anything, I think that it's only other people appreciation that is missing right now, though I'm patient by nature. Concerning the 1000 post mark...I don't think it means much, really, only that you've become far too addicted to this site :P I think the funniest is reaching 500 but from then on it's all just numbers to me.

I think Mylot is very addicting also and I do believe that our star and ranking comes from how other people are rating us here. I respond to my people and I rate them with a ( + ) sign. I never give them a negative rating. I would rather not rate them than to rate them poorly. I think alot of the number of posts we make also are just numbers but it does help our earnings also.

I started out at a 9 and worked really hard to get that 10 for one day. I went back down to a 9 and just recently got my 10 back somehow. I see you now your your 10 also. I am a fairly quick typer but I have to look at the keys. I have met alot of nice people here also and you are one of them. It is really nice to have met you also. I can spell most words, but I get to typing too fast and mess up now and then, laugh out loud.

I am very impressed with the amount of work you are putting into this. I do hope it will pay off for you. I have been on MyLot about as long as you but have not put near the effort you have and it shows. Clearly I can not answer your question. Just had to tell you how impressed I am at your effort. Good for you.

I don't know I have been here two months and have stayed a nine. Although my numbers keep going up. I was at 87 now I'm at 95. I think slowly i will get there. I think quality and how many people actually rate you help. I always rates discussions I answer and usually its with a plus. I also rate people who answer my own discussions. Congrats on your ten. I'm sure you have earned it. Keep up the good work :)

I think it took me about 2 month to finally get to a 10 with my rating. I tried and worked very hard to post to quality discussions with quality responses. It looks like you will be at a 10 soon also. Keep up the good work. I always rate members also. It helps them to move up. I skip over some of the member responses if they do not post with qaulity. I don't like to give negative ratings. I hardly ever skip over people though. I alway rate them a plus. I rate every response or discussion and i also rate those who respond to me. Thanks alot for congratulating me. I have worked very hard to get it. I'm sure you will get yours soon also because I can see some good quality in your response. Good luck with it.

I am not sure if it so much depends on how much you put into it. I believe it is from people giving you a + rating. I put up a controversial topic and mine went down because people are up tight and gave me negatives. If I don't see something from someones view I don't insult them or give them a negative. I try to see it from their perspective and give my thoughts.

I think it all depends on if someone is rating us also. I rate everyone with a ( + ). I don't give anyone a negative rating. I leave that up to Mylot. I just skip over some responses instead of giving them any rating at all. I know everyone has their opinion and that is fine but I will skip over the ones that are rude or sarcastic. You will get a plus from me because i think you post with good quality.

I think it is also a reward for my hard work. I also think it comes from other members rating me. I rate all of the members also when they respond to me or I respond to their discussions as well. Thank you saying I have a nice attitude. I try to respond to as many as my friends discussions as I can each day. I have seen alot of yours that I can relate to as well. Keep up the great work and I will respond to many more of your discussions also.

I have seen the star number go down, sometimes back up. It is given to you by your mylot members each time you are rated a + for a post or response. If someone doesn't like you or gets jealous and hits the -, it will make your number go down. Keep up the great job. I always give you ++ for responses and postings.

margieanneart I have seen my star rating go up and down also. I think it is given to us by other Mylot members rating us also. I never give someone a negative rating. I always give them a positive rating or I just skip over that person if their response is not relevant to the discussion I made. I think alot of them do get jealous and they will do whatever it takes to make a higher person go down to a lower number. It isn't fair. I think you post with good quality and you definitely deserve a 10, in my book. You have the most response numbers of all of us and you deserve it. Keep up the great work and you always get a ( + ) from me also.

marciascott I agree also. Alot of members here at Mylot definitely deserve a 10 rating. They work very hard and make good discussions and responses. I don't think it is fair that members can peurposely make someones rating go down. I think it should be totally up to Mylot to rate our performance. That way we know we got a vild rating. I'm not sure if it has to do with people liking us, but I do think there is someone out there to make things worse for those with higher numbers. I don't understand how new people can start with a 10 either in some cases.

Yeah I really don't know what the 10 star rating is. I have a 9 star rating and I have achieved this in a day working hard at Mylot. Just like everyone recommends, I post interesting discussions that relate to my interests and a bunch of other people. Rating people who respond to your discussion also help your rating go up. What I also do is respond to other discussions of my interest, which is easy because it naturally comes.

I have yet to totally figure out the 10 star rating also but I think it has alot to do with how other members rate our responses and discussions as well as how many of them choose us for a best response. I respond to all of the discussions that interest me also. They are alot easier to respond to and you do not have to look through alot of discussions to find some with quality.

Since you posted this discussion three months ago, I'm sure you have a good sense of how the star ratings move around by now... I have to admit it took me a while to figure it out. I started with a 9-star and got within a whisker of dropping to an 8-star before very slowly (at around 600-700 posts) moving to a 10-star. The only observation I could add is that it seems as if "like begets like." People with high ratings tend to be better writers, so they post "quality content." BUT... they also seem to post their responses to OTHER people's "quality content." If you just surf "average discussions," you don't SEE a whole lot of people with high star ratings posting elaborate responses to short "strange" discussions... you see them responding to interesting and well-written topics. Some would call that "elitist," but I really think it's more a matter of putting your attention on things that are INTERESTING to you. I always check out the new members on a regular basis, looking for those who might go on to become significant contributors, in their own right.

I think you are right also. I post to discussions that are of good quality and I respond back to them with good quality also. I think alot of members get their ratings from being rated positively by other members. I think we also achieve them by getting chosen for the best response also. I never post to a discussion if it doesn't have some quality in it. You do not advance with your rating and you do not earn very much from it either.

I think the rating may not be much difference if you are getting 8 -10, it only matters if you ar getting lower than 5. To get 10 star rating, I think we have to rate other members replies and choose the best response, also you have to give high quality responses. It seems that even you pass 500 or 1000, the rating may not be different..

I think our star rating says alot about the difference in our rating and our earnings here at Mylot also. I think we alos have to rate each others responses and discussions. I do choose a best response also for the best reply. I have held onto my 10 for quite some time and I am very glad that most everyone thinks I post quality responses. Good luck and I hope you reach the 10 rating soon also.

A seven star rating is pretty good. It just goes to show there is still room for improvement. My star rating fluctuates sometimes. Keep working hard to post to quality discussions with a quality response and you will see your star rating go up, as well as your earnings. I hope you will let us all know how it went for you to get your 10 star rating and what it took to achieve it. Good luck with it.

I have been a member for 5 days and got my star 2 days ago. It started as a 9 so I was really impressed because it meant that I am doing a good job and posting quality posts which I was trying to do. I am hoping to move to a 10 star soon so I am going to continue to do a good job and answer posts to the best of my ability. Mylot gives you a ranking based on the quality of your post so be proud of yourself and continue to do good posts. Happy posting!

It looks to me, that you are doing a very good job here so far. A 9, is a very good number to start out with. Your rating will definitely go up if you keep posting to quality discussions with a quality response. I think Mylot members have alot to do with our star and our ratings. It can go up or down, depending on how they rate us and if they choose us for a best response.

As you can see I only have a seven start rating which I find dissapointing. I joined yesterday and did my hundred posts. I was eagerly looking forward to seeing what my star would be when I reached the hundred post mark. I was delighted that it was an eight and hoped I would be able to build on that. I was so dissapointed when I logged on this morning and saw that my rating had dropped to a seven. I hope it doesn't go any lower.

I'm sorry your star is only a 7 right now. You are doing great for just starting here at Mylot and you have well over 100 posts made. Are you making sure to post to quality discussions? Are your responses given also with quality? Our star number and color comes from others rating our discussions and our responses. soem of it comes from other members choosing your response as the best one. I know you are very disappointed but I am giving you some tips to get your star number and color higher. Someone may have rated one of your discussions or responses negatively which made your rating go down. I hate when that happens. I always give my members a plus ( + ) rating or I just skip over it. I try to never give anyone a negative rating.

hi steph, definitely we are not quite sure how we achieve this star rating, but definitely besides quality discussions and posts, the amount of time that we put in here, matters a lot, since last month, when i was out of city for a week and was not able to log into for even a fraction of second, mine mylot rating was decreased from 10 to 9, which atlast i gained yesterday only

Hello gharinder. I think the amount of time we put into Mylot each day also affects our star rating and the number inside it also. I notice my earnings will also fluctuate if I am away fro a few days. I'm glad you got your 10 star rating back. that is great. I hope you can hang onto it for a long time.

Hi! I've been trying very hard to get my star to 10. My current rating is 93/100 and I'm thinking that if I reached the rating of 95/100 my star will be 10.

Keep trying hard and you will get it eventually. I kept trying hard to get mine also. I used to have a rating of 95/100 but I stayed at a red star for a long time. Other Mylot members also had a 95/100 and they had a blue star. I'm not sure why mine didn't change to blue like theirs. I had to wait until I got a 96/100 before mine ever changed. Good luck with it and I hope you achieve what you are looking for.

I agree with you. I think that one of the factors that affect our star rating is the amount of work we put here in mylot. You're already a 10 with your 2000 plus posts in just one week's time. That is really impressive. I have been here for two months already but my star is still at 7 and I have only posted to about 300 discussions. I guess I don't spend that much time in myLot as you do that's why your rate is better than mine. I also think that our ratings are affected by either the negative or positive ratings given to us by our fellow myLottians. I guess that a lot of members here appreciate your discussions enough to give you positive rating and let your star reach 10. I really hope I reach the 10 star rating soon.

I think it also has a little bit to do with the amount of time and work we put into it also. I have been here since January. I started out with a 9 star rating and have kept it at a 10 rating for quite some time now. I think our rating also gets affected by other Mylot members rating us with a plus. I think alot of it comes from choosing good discussions to respond to and choosing the right friends who will do right by you. I hope you have really good friends here to help you reach your rating goals. Good luck with and I always rate my people with a plus. Have a great day.

hey , I feel its wonderful to be in the blue club...m a proud member(just recently was put in to ten start!!!) I feel its a way of showing respect to our fellow mylots who take pains and answer our posts, i feel its a nice way of showing our gratitude to them. And more over it helps people to judge(though i feel its not rite to do it through the star) but yeah, i have heard if u score a higher star, you make good frinds and get more replies! cheeerrrs!

I think it is nice to get a blue star also. It kind of gives you a sense of accomplishment. It makes you feel like you did a good job and you are valued and worthy. I think it is also showing respect to one another. I hope alot of members are using the rating system. I think it is a nice way also to show someone gratitude. I haven't heard anything about the higher scored star makes you get good friends and get more replies but if so, great! Good luck in keeping your blue. It looks good on you. ;-)

Congratulations for a job well done. My star rating started at number 5 and i thought of it positively. Its better having star with number 5 in it tha nothing at all right? But as days pass by, my rating is now on number 7. I try not to post short messages and try to answer with quality and with essence, may be taht is why my rating increased to 7. Im just curious with all the time you spent at mylot. How much is your earning right now and how much do you make a day? hope you reply with honesty. thanks! goodluck and more power!

Thank you haedescanes. A five star rating is definitely better than none at all. I'm glad to see you got it up to a seven now. Great job. Keep trying and working hard and you will see it keep going up. I don't think Mylot will let you tell you what I am earning right now. I think it is against the rules. I will tell you that I am earning quite well now but my earnings do fluctuate a little bit each day. I am replying to you with honesty. I have no reason to lie. Id Mylot would let me tell you what I earn without deleting my post, then I would, but I cannot take that risk. I will tell you that I make well over the minimum every month though. You are welcome. good luck and more power to you also.

I am trying to post with quantity and quality and I thank you for all of your wonderful compliments. They are deeply appreciated.
