Ok, so I woke up this morning with a nasty head cold...

It's been driving me crazy all day. I even missed church because I'm feeling so miserable. So my question is, what kind of remedies do you use when you have a head cold?

I'm allergic to pseudephrine so when I get a head cold I cannot take over the counter medicines. I tend to drink a lot of hot herbal teas and water and try to get as much rest as possible. Since it's been a week, I hope you are feeling much better! Cheers!

Yeah, all better now. While I'm not allergic to anything otc, I do try to avoid taking any more medicines than I absolutely have to. I wound up doing the tea thing until I couldn't stand it anymore, then finally sent the hubby to the store for Tylenol Sinus, which helped a lot.

Well, since it has been a week since your head cold, I hope that you are feeling better. But to answer your question, I find that TheraFlu works the best for me. There have been times that I had such a bad cold that I just wanted to stay in bed. But my partner forced me to drink TheraFlu. Horrible horrible taste! But...it sure did make me feel better! Since then, if I feel that bad, I will take the TheraFlu pills. LOL I will never drink that stuff again! But it does work well for me. :)

I didn't know they had TheraFlu pills! Do they work just as well? I've tried to drink that stuff (my hubby swears by it) but just can't manage to get it down. Yuck!

The best cold remedy that I've used is Cold-Eeze cold remedy lozenges. I had a cold I took one and my cold was gone two days later.

I feel for you. They are even closing the schools around here for a couple of days due to the flu. For head congestion steam helps me. Fill the basin with hot water and drape a towel over your head and inhale the steam. Also drink lots of fluids. I usually have to take a decongestant to clear mine up.

I usually use TheroFlu, it is warm doesn't taste badn and usually works fairly quickly. I also found that a nice cup of tea and steaming my head helps a lot.

I've been doing the tea thing all day. I can't manage to get TheraFlu down though -- the smell makes me gag before I even take a sip!

I am a Nyquil and Dayquil fanatic. It kind of goes against my philisophy of natural healing, but I live for that stuff when my herbal remedies have not caught before the cold starts. I refuse to suffer.

I've seen that happen to a lot of folks, but no idea why... I guess it's just one of those quirks!

Just say quits to all kinds of pills, simply go holistic, with healthy foods and a good night's sleep. You will soon be blessed!

Colds are definitely irritating...With over-the-counter stuff, I used to use Nyquil/Dayquil, but for some reason, those quit working for me a couple years ago. Now, I find the best thing is Counteract Cold (both day and night formula) fro Melaleuca. If I don't have it on-hand and have to use something OTC, I find Aleive Cold and Sinus works pretty well; you only take one every twelve hours, which is nice since I'm horrible about remembering to take pills more than once or twice in a day. I also find, for clearing my breathing up, the hottest shower I can stand helps. There's a new product (well, new to us, anyway) my wife has found in the last couple years...I can't remember who makes them, but they're basically large round things that you unwrap, drop in one in your shower, and the steam activates the vapors...I think it's a Vics product; you breathe it in while you're in the shower, and it really clears up your breathing. The only down side is, it gives your bathroom a medicinal/Vics VapoRub smell for a few hours afterward...The stones simply dissolve in your shower, so there's no clean-up. I don't find hot tea to help me with clearing up or anything, but for some reason, it just tastes good and feels good going down when you're sick...Especially if it's a sore throat. Glad you're feeling better.

I've tried those Vics shower things and they are amazing. I have to go use the shower upstairs in the guest room if I want to use those though, because my bunnies live in my master bathroom.
