i am a single mother and i been trying to buy a home for my children and i as i currently live with my mother. (who by the way isn't always the nicest person)anyway...for whatever reason, i work 40 hours a week and still cannot afford to buy a home. (even though it would be cheaper than rent)home prices here where i live are almost double what i qualify for. i don't know what to do anymore...i am going insane living here with her and my children. she is "grandma" so the kids never do anything wrong and when they do...its my fault. i feel like i am trapped in a nightmare. what i need is a way to make money without putting any money out into another scam. does anyone know of anything i can do from home that isn't going to cost me anything? other than mylot of course as i am already trying this, but quite frankly i don't come here for the money, its the advice and stories that keep me sane :) i don't know if i am allowed to ask this question however you "guys" have really given me great advice in the past and this is something that is really making me depressed. thank you for any help.

There isn't anywhere on the internet that would give you enough money to reach a house price, even if added to your present forty-hour a week wage. I think, if you really want to move that badly, you'll be best to take on rental, at least for the time being. The only problem with this would be that if you were ever prevented from going to work, by sickness, or your children's ill health, then that might present the problem of being unable to pay your rent in full. It's a big step, but if you're a single parent, are you not able to find assistance of some kind in your country, if it's beneficial to the children? I know that here, in England, single parents are able to obtain a reduction in rent, and possibly assistance with the cost of raising the children, if they are unable to bring more than a certain wage into the home. It might be worth your while to have a look around and see what your entitlements are. I hope this will help you. It never works, living with parents whilst your kids are growing. I wish you luck and brightest blessings.

Thank you for your great advise. There is what is called "welfare" here however I "make too much" to be approved to receive this. (which to me is a bit strange) I will however look into some other programs, the problem is I really don't know where to look. I cannot rent on my own as the normal rent in this area for even a 2 bedroom(which I need 4 as I have 3 children who are all at least 5 years apart and the state here says they cannot share rooms) is $500+ a month. Now with all the other bills (elec, gas, phone, etc) I will not be able to afford that. This is why I am trying to look for a home as it is usually cheaper for a mortgage then for rent. I will try to do whatever need be though to get out of this situation. Thank you again for your help.

This is true... you can't make enough to pay everything on your own, which is why you need to seek some sort of help with your bills. Most countries have a benefits office of sorts; it's just finding out which one you need to visit. Maybe even cutting your work hours down by a few, to be with the children more might help with a welfare payment?

Have you checked into a government loan that goes by your income? I'm not sure of the name of the loan, but most realtors know about it. It is for lower income families that can't afford the normal loans. I don't know of anything to help with money. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the loan.

hi jess, try posting your resume on careerbuilder.com let future employers know you would like to work from home. Some insurance jobs will train at the office, but then will let you work from home. However, if you do get this type of job, you will still need to provide childcare so as not to interrupt your work. Hope that helps, I totally understand your situation.
