We have a female kitten. I am concerned that it will get older and cause a mess. Sorry to be so frank, but female dogs menstruate and make messes. Do female cats? I am like worried about this,it grosses me out. She lies on the dining table and the couch. Please help...

I'm sure that they do, but healthy female AND male cats are fastidiously clean and groom themselves. I doubt that you will have any mess or problems to worry about.

I hope not. It just freaks me out. I was laughing because my spouse thinks it is no big deal. Here I am going like nuts about cleaniness and germs.

I've never seen a female cat menstruate, but they do go into heat and make a lot of noise. Cats are clean and they usually keep themselves well groomed. If you are not planning on breeding your cat, you should consider having her "fixed". Check with your vet to find out how old she needs to be, but I know that you can get the operation at 9 months old. I think that she'll be happier than if she goes into heat regularly. I have 4 cats and they are all neutered.

Since you are worried about this - and I am sure you don't want a ton of kittens - you should go get her fixed. That way you don't have to worry about her in heat or getting pregnant.
