I used to read a lot when I was younger. But these days I watch a lot of tv and go on the internet. There's so much to do on the internet and so much to watch tv. It's more entertaining to me than a book. I look at magazines before a book. Which is sad, I hope to get back into reading a book.

I agree with you. Especially television, it has made people don't want to read the books. I think internet still give us place for reading. I have got some good books and articles from internet. And of course, internet is the biggest library in this world. And some of them are free. It's great, isn't it. But, sometimes I just want to surf and forget to read. Thanks for the discussion. Reminding me the treasures that sometimes I forgot, the good books..

I agree with you. I miss that part too. Maybe, we should change our culture to read? I've found that with Acrobat Reader, I can read the book and listening it too, and of course with hot drink.. But, surfing usually tempted me to leave it...

I don't think the TV and Internet have replaced reading a such, they have simply added another option for spending your spare time. I like to watch TV, go on the internet and read books, i usually do all three each day, though probably spend more time on the internet, though it varies.

Certainly not! In my opinion, internet is internet, reading a book is reading a book. I have a heavy user of both. Give me any day and I would rather hold a book in my hand and read it, rather than read it off the screen. Well, as least till they make screen reading as comfortable as reading a real book. :P

I'll read a good book when I want to be entertained but will use the internet when I'm looking for specific information on a subject. Tv has never been a favorite of mine.

oh I do prefer a good book to everything, above all to TV...TV programmes are nowadays so superficial and sometimes so bad that I don't think I can ever miss them. I like using the internet for professional and personal purpose, but this is one of the moment I like most in my day...when I come back home at night, I put on my favourite music, then put on the light and sit on my armchair and simply fly away reading my book...oh it is such a moment of peace, a special moment...and I am very crazy on reading...I can't help reading. even after a very busy day I can find a little moment for me, and I have always a book near my pillow. sure...nothing compares to a good book, according to me

For me at least, tv and movies cannot compare to a good book. A good book you can take with you wherever you go, and it is great if you are ever stuck at the DMV, or doctor's in a waiting room. Once I get into a book, the rest of the world kindof fades away. With TV and movies and the internet...that doesn't really happen. Plus stories that are told with a book, and certain kinds of humor just don't work in the visual format. Our brains can things that tv's and computer screens and movie screens will never be able to capture. I read every day and finish a book in about a week, week and a half. I don't have cable so I only watch the news shows in the morning while I'm getting ready for work. When I come home I check my email, have some dinner and then watch a movie. I'd say I am pretty well balanced.

I actually prefer both of them. I watch Tv for news and other educational channels. I also collect business books and surf in the internet for latest news.

i do not believe the tv and the internet have replaced reading-unforunately they influenced in a way but not replaced-i think if someone whould read 3 books a month now with the tv and the internet he may read one book evey one to ttwo months only-but it depend from the people and the age-the younger people are infected more-the old people are not infected by the internet at least the majority of the old people

i agree with you now ,in the 21 century, reading has become an uncommonly habit between modern people. its more easy to acces the internett and is more amusing.A good book needs attention, emotional immixture wich you cant find on the net.i'm afraid that readimg will become a foretime act in its original acceptance
