What was the longest time that you went with out a period? I am going on three months now, and it is driving me insane. I had someone I knew who did not have one for a year. The doctors say it was becuase she was not ovulating. They say the same thing with me, and then I had a nurse tell me I could hemorrige if I don't have one at least every 3 months. Welll, what do you think about that. It scares the iss out of me, but I realy can't do anything about it

I think that the changes of you hemmoraging is slim to none. If that was really true they would not hand out birth control pills that allow you to go 6 months or longer without a period. I have gone 6 months without one. I sort of bothered me, but I knew I wasn't pregnant and that is all I was really worried about. If you are really worried, go see your OB/GYN.

You have a very valid point! A friend on mine had the birth control that was inserted in her arm that lasted for 5 years or something! And within the first couple months, her periods stopped completely! I would think that if it were that harmful and a risk, they would not have put that product out there either. :) Excellent point!

My sister in law was also worried about not having her period at first she thought she was pregnant then took several pregnancy test and it said she wasn't so she went to her doctor which she comfirmed that my sister in law wasn't and sent her home but after not having her period after 3 months she went back to the doctors and the doctor prescribed her 7 little white pills that made her start her period. Me I got mine more then once too and was on iron supplements also and 4 other pills. Lucky for me it hasn't happened like that in a while. Thank God. Well I do hope that you feel better soon. You may have to start taking birth control for a few months to keep you regulated and get everything back on track..

They gave you something only after 2 months? Gee, that must have been horrible. What did they give you? Did they say you already ovulated? Because if you had it may have been from other issues like a pregnancy gone wrong or something. I know the reason (pretty sure) is that I am not ovulating. If you don't ovulate you usualy don't have a period. So the Endo tells me.

i went 2 years without a real period because i was on the depo povera shot for 2 years straight, i mean i would a little spotting every 6 to 8 months but nothing that a panty liner couldn't handle. But since i got of the shot, i returned to regular periods.

I go 8 or 9 months someetimes without getting mine, and when it comes, it stays for what seems like foreverrr...See your doctor if you're really concerned.. You could ask him to test you for PCOS, that irregulates your period. I usually try not to get too overwhelmed by it, I like not having cramps and all that.. Makes life easier! Good luck. =]

I have been tested for that, now it's not it. They say it's becuase I am not ovulating. It was real funney becuase I would ovulate two times in a months about 3-4 times a year, and now this. This all happened after I had my baby 4 years ago, and it would go from 1.5 months to what it is now. I have gained quite a bit of weight from lexapro and I think that that is propbrobly most of the problem. I gained around 50 pounds in less than 9 months! I ate less and had no appeitie so it had to be the meds. Any way I stopped taking it before christmas and maybe that is the problem. I don't know for sure though, but it would make sense since ones body kinda goes into shock when you do something of that nature.

I regularly go for 3 months without 1 as thats whats meant to happen with the contraceptive pill I take. You should visit your doctor if your really worried, it'll probably be ok though- don't let it stress you out.

going without a period for three months or more is, for me, something that needs serious medical attention. my sister had irregular monthly periods. lately, she was diagnosed as having polycystic ovaries. go a see a doctor specializing in this field. some doctors may recommend taking pills to regulate your menstrual period. others don't think it's a good idea, though.

That is my diagnosis as well I have polycystic ovarian disease . It is treatable but unfortunately there is no cure . The earlier it is diagnosed the better as some women get ovarian cancer as a result of it .

I went without one for six to nine months, I don't remember. All the Drs I talked to say that it was nothing to worry about unless you think you might be pregnant. In fact, having fewer periods is said to be good for the health. I didn't like it because I always felt like I was going to have one, but I never did. I was afraid it was going to start when I least expected it. When it started again, it was not a problem.

The longest I have gone was after having my first son, I didn't have one until he was 6 months old, I nursed him. My youngest is four months and I haven't had one yet either. (well I suppose the longest I have gone was when I was preggers, but I don't think that should count), Also when I was in highschool, I was very active in sports, track and cross country and I would miss them alot, I don't know why but I think that sometimes when you are very active you can miss them. (You problably never thought you woul WANT your period!) (;

I am kinda weird. I like to have one on a regular basis. I hate the anticipation and I feel better over all (hormone and emotional wise) if they are more regular.

Are you on the pill? I was on a low estrogen pill and it made me not have a period for 3 months. That could be the cause. Also, cysts make you not have periods. I didn't like it at all not having a period so I got off the pill.

Sweetie don't walk RUN to the nearest NEW doctor. Their reasoning doesn't even make sense. Sure alot of women have irregular periods all of their life. And also especially when woman are in menopause or pre-menopausal. Please go to another doctor and get a second opinion. You're right in your gut feeling this isn't normal. Hope everything turns out ok for you.

Only for a year when I was nursing my daughter. Perhaps your medication is meddling with your hormones. Perhaps a gland is not working right. It should be tested to see what level your hormones are at. While I am thinking hormones, maybe you are pregnant. Find out and get it taken care of if you can!

It's been a long time since I had one at all, I had a total hyserectomy at 30 years old. But in my 20's I was on the pill for a long time, and I actually went about 10 months without one, I was so worried I went to the dr. who took me off of them for awhile so I could give my body a rest and I resumed menses and then went back on the pill, but I believe he prescribed me a different type so I wouldn't do the same thing again. Other than that I was always very normal.

The longest time I went without my period was 6 whole months. It happened twice to me. I think it did not come because that time I was preparing for my major exams and it must be stress. But, I did not bother much about it because I had all the freedom and I continued studying. When my exam was over, my period came back. And then, it was normal already.
