What should teenagers do to overcome depression, and what is the leading cause of it? What if they wont talk or open up to anybody at all.

Almost everyone at one time or another experiences a period of sadness. Most people get over it with a little time. But for some people, the sadness continues. If you are caught in a prolonged period of sadness, you may recognize one or more of the signs that often accompany depression: a growing distrust of God, resentment of others, difficulty making decisions, guilt, inactivity, sleeplessness or oversleeping, not eating or overeating, doubting, complaining, worrying, and hopelessness, as though you're in an inescapable pit.

and many of these things are hard to avoid and get rid of and sometimes your lack of sleep or eating will get worse as you are more depressed due to the fact your thoughts leave you unaware of things around you or needs and you stay up all night thinking or crying and is there nothing to help?

well, i had depression before (well still do sometimes) and i was taught the only person that can help me is me, no one else but me. everything teenagers think is all in their heads and they have to keep busy like going to work or doing something outside while the air hits them, to forget what they are thinking.

Sometimes they dont have many interests outside or anywhere and do few things inside alone and sometimes the activities they choose are not necessarily good things that clear their minds.

I think it is harder for teens to overcome depression than adults. School, peers, gentics are a few of the things that can cause depression. If they won't open up, you have to try and encourage them to talk to a counselor or doctor. My youngest daughter suffers from depression and she kept it inside until she tried sucide. She has been hospitalized 3 times. On Monday, she is going to a special center for adolesents to be analyzied.

i think the main cause of depression is when he or she has a problem becaus if you have problems then you are worried and you got stress. another thing is that when you are disappointed of what happens or whatever it is. when you are also feel hungry and lack of sleep so you feel depress.what do you think?

I was a depressed teen and never got treatment until my twenties. I think it is important that the teen have someone to talk to and do an evaluation. Sometimes medication may be needed and then sometimes they may just need someone to help them sort out their feelings.

Frustration leads to disturbance n it leads to depression. Take everything in lighter mood upto an extent..... when it starts to panic divert ur concentration from it.
