When we owned a sugar cane farm I only did grocery shopping once a week. We weren't far from town, but with other necessary trips, once was enough.
When we retired and bought a house in town, I continued the habit of weekly shopping, but if needs be I can easily make an extra trip. Since we now buy the best quality steaks, I prefer not to freeze them. We do get a few visitors, so I often have to replenish.
This morning was my shopping day, and once again I asked myself why I used to enjoy it! It was steamy hot again today, so that's my excuse!

We shoot for once a month and sometimes it is twice a month. It really depends on how much we are eating for that month.

Supermarkets are the shops where we get our daily supplies as well as food. My place is a very small city packed with a lot of people. I think it is the most densely populated place in the world. So shops are everywhere, There are several supermarkets within every mile. Thus most people don't store food at home. Only those work or live in the rural shop much food for a week or two. When we need something we just go out and get it from shops a few steps away from home. Moreover, people here like fresh food, they like to cook fish, meat, or vegetables arrived the market with one day, so ice-box is never a storage of food here but a device for preparing cold drink, icy dishes, etc.

I usually go when I get extra money. When I get extra money, I make a list of what I need and I buy what I can. Usually its once every two weeks or so. I buy lots of peanut butter and bread and milk. Then fresh fruits and vegetables on sale. Then if I have any money left I will buy meat.
