Over 45min on PC is surfing for trouble!-Guard against this PC threat-
More and more people, many of them in their 20s and 30s, are falling prey to problems which doctors say result from prolonged computer use.
1] Computer Vision Syndrome: Drying of cornea due to reduced blinking rate, burning sensation/ watering due to continuous contraction of cilliary nerve.
2] Cervical Spondylitis: This is often a result of bad posture, caused by the bending of the vertebral column while looking at the screen.
3] Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Numbness or burning sensation in the fingers caused by long hours when the median nerve of the hand remains compressed due to mouse or keyboard use.
Dos & Don’ts: Doctors say many of these patients do not need long-term medication. Observing some simple rules while sitting in front of the PC is sufficient.
- Sit straight, ideally with some back support.
- Do not sit long hours at a stretch. Walk around a little bit every hour.
- The screen should be just at the level of the eye.
- Shift the position of t he mouse every couple of hours.
- Do some neck and eye exercises, deep breathing.
