Ok, many of you may have seen my discussion from some time ago wondering how friends lists are put in order. It doesn't often seem to make sense to me, so I've been trying to figure it out for some time now. Today I noticed something that may be my first clue. It seems they are very roughly in order by number of posts, but not in the way you and I would think. Right now the post numbers of the folks on the first page of my list are (in this order) 898, 955, 86, 998, 94, 923, 882, 909, 99, 9755, 990, 8375, 92, 97, and 94. All numbers starting with nine or eight. So, I think the first digit of your number of posts determines what page you are on. After that, it seems that each individual page is in alphabetical order. The first few letters of the names on that same list are (in this order) dra, est, im4, jul, jun, jus, kbk, len, mag, msg, por, raj, shi, ven, win. Anyway, I was so happy that I finally figured this out that I just thought I'd share it with everyone. Let me know if my hypothesis proves true on your friends list.

Congratulations! You did it!!!! :) We now understand the order of the friend list because of you. I am glad it bugged you so much! Because now I just have to remember what my friends number rating is. Oh wait! That is always changing too. *sigh* Why can't they let US put them in the order that WE want!

I couldn't agree with you more... Though this does at least explain why they move around so much. The one in my example with 99 posts that's currently on my first page will be on the last page next time she posts. Ugh!

haha I wonder the same thing. I wish I could organize it like my myspace page, really confusing. THANKS!

I don't know about your list, but on mine each page can hold 30 names and each page is sorted alphabetically. So on the first page you have 30 names from A-Z and then on the next page another 30 names from A to Z. I'm guessing they just grab all the names from a database under no specific order (possibly by insert date/order), divide the total so each page takes a maximum of 30 entries, then sort those alphabetically on each page. Hope that makes sense.
