john petrucci the best lead guitarist!!!!

I don't agree with that, their bassist john myung and drummer mike portnoy are equally talented. Have a closer look at the band especially on the drummer.

Yes, Petrucci is a vital part of the band, but I always considered Mike Portnoy to be the heart and soul of the band. Nevertheles, if you've heard the band before Jordan Rudess came along, you may notice that only Petrucci stands up because of his face-melting solos. But I strongly dissagree that there is no band without him.

Yeah i have heard this band , i agee that he is a good guitarist,n he played a vital role in the band dream theatre(as u said) n how about joe satriani, jimi hendrix,robin finck (of gnr).

John Petrucci is a great guitarist. Its so hard to say who is the best guitarist simply because there are so many incredible guitarist, whos better jimi hendrix or eddie van halen, or jimmy page? what about duane allman. See what I mean there are so many great guitarists.
