Most of the time we all agree what to watch so it isn't a matter of control. Whoever turns on the TV is usually the one who controls the remote. There are 3 of us in my home, my wife, my 27 year old daughter and myself. So there isn't problem with content. We all pretty much like the same programs. So we do not fight over what to watch or who controls the remote.

Well, when I was living with my parents, that happened alot between me and my siblings. But, now that I am married and it is just me and my husband, it doesn't happen much anymore. My hsuband doesn't watch TV much and when he does it is whatever I am watching. So, that works just great for us.

Most of the time we fought on what channel to watch for. Not everybody in the family would like to watch same channel I would like to watch.
To solve this problem, an schedule on who and what channel to watch for is being implemented. Another solution is to purchase another television so if somebody is watching another channel he is being disturbed in what he is watching. So everybody in the family is given a chance to watch his favorite show/channel.
Usuallu the remote control operator in our house is the first person to switch on the television. Unless he leaves his place, that is the time another person can use the television.

no i dont have such fight over what channel to watch.. i mostly like to watch tv alone.. if somebody is watching along with me.. i also do care of their choice.. what they want to watch.. if there is some "important" program.. that i really want to watch.. then at that case.. i dont let anyone to change the channel..

Since the boys moved out that is not an issue in our household anymore. My husband watches news or we watch a movie together. Other wise we are reading, I am on mylot or I watch something like Ugly Betty. So he can have the controller whenever he wants.

My older sister would usually take control. I was hesitant at first to watch the programs she liked but end up liking it more than she does. In a way, that's a blessing.
