What Do Your Pets Bring Home For You?

They say that when your pet brings something home it's a honour, a trophy! But our youngest cat, Octavia has just brought in a worm, I wondered what she was playing with, you know how animals are when they find something. My action was horrified, and they expect you to be pleased! Yuk! I know it's their nature but I hate it when they bring home dead birds, frogs and fieldmice, sometimes I am lucky and the poor thing is still alive, so I rescue them, mostly they play with them and the poor creature has a heart-attack! I know its nature but I really do hate it when they bring home a take away. Do your animals do this? What do they bring home to you?

Hmmm - I hate worms! I had a cat that used to bring those to me once! Well I have 5 cats and I have woods at the back of my house, so guess you can imagine how many gifts I get - LOL! Until last year I actually had 6 cats - and it was my little tabby Caspar (the one who passed away last year) who was the worst for presents. He regularly bought me squirrels, pigeons, and rabbits from the woods - the rabbits used to really upset me. The only good thing about Caspar was that he always used to kill them imediately - he never played with them - and I never had to deal with a live one from him. Frodo, my youngest male cat, has anasty tendancy of bringing me water-rats and fieldmice and they are usually alive. I rescue s many as I can and take them back to the woods to release them there. Sadly some of them are too badly injured to survive - they are obviously struggling and need to be out put of their misery but I am not strong enough to do that, so my partner has to do it and it always really upsets him, even though we know it is better fpt the poor creature because they would not survive.

I haven't had cats for years. My first cat was the hunter and used to bring home huge black rats, shrews, mice and even a stoat! Sadly she hasn't been with us for near 13 years but she was an amazing hunter

Its very natural they may just want something to overpower or just to play with. They could also want to show their master that they are good but they may not be pleased with his catch.

My mother's cat brings little twigs and sticks and drops them by the front door every day! It's really funny! Once my dog brought home the lower half of a deer's leg!!! At first I was freaked out but then I figured he must have found it in the trash of a deer hunter who was a neighbor. Haha!

My cat Moomin is always bringing me little presents. Last week it was a mouse, and a few weeks ago she managed to bring in a bird. She sits in front of me with her *gift* looking so pleased with herself that I haven't the heart to be cross. Mostly I just remove the body, after all it's nature.

I don't let my cats go outside. So I don't get those gifts that you get. Thank goodness. But, my cats bring me their toys and drop them at my feet.

I once had a cat as my pet. Miming would usually bring home mouse that he caught outside the house. He would play with it. Afterwards, he would kill the mouse and leave it behind. Sometimes he would bring lizards and other insects too.

Hi wolfie34, I've had the standard mice brought home to me all the time, but the most unusual thing i've had brought back to me was a bat! My cat Tizer brought it back, she was the best mouser in the world, we used to time her how long it took her to get a mouse and bring it home, we once timed her and it took her 10 minutes to go out the back door, over 4 gardens, across a road another garden and into a field, then back again.. Bless

when i was younger, i had a dog named midnight. she had found some orphaned baby bunnies and brought them all home. she hid them in her dog house for like a week until my mom went in to get her blanket to wash it and found 8 lil bunnies. we ended up bringing them in the house and bottle feeding them for a few months and then we found homes for each one of them. it was just a shock though to see to find bunnies in my dogs house. she was overly protective of them when we brought them in the house but we didnt want anything to happen to them.

My cat has been known to bring all kinds of things home. Birds, frogs, and mice. The funniest one was when my cat raided the local take away bins and came home with sausages and t-cakes. He always trys to get the chicken out of the bin too. Many a time I have had to re-bag the rubbish because it has been ripped open.

I have a rescued stray and when I first found her she would bring me birds. I would find feathers and then the bird. Yuck! She was so proud of herself. All I could do was thank her and yell for my husband to bury the poor bird.

My cat doesn't bring anything home. I see him outside playing with things and I go to investigate-- I know its their nature but its gross.. Usually its a mole or a small mouse. A really gross thing- My cat eats them when he is done. I woke up yesterday to find cat puke-- on the kitchen floor and in the middle of the puke was a whole small mole.. YUK! He ate it whole-- and then got sick! This is the first time this has ever happened! and let me tell you I was pretty grossed out!

my cat brought me a baby mouse once. the poor thing must have just been a few weeks old. it was sooo terrified. it went and sat in the corner and my cats sitting in front of it purring like crazy and lying upside down like she wants to be its best friend. my mum, who was visiting me that day, and me were standing on the table ofcourse coz we are terrified of mice. luckily my boyfriend came home and scooped it up and put it out. my cat was upset for days after that searching for her lil friend!!
