Access Hollywood | Brandy Sued For $50 Million Over Fatal Car Crash | Celebrity and Hollywood News Splash Brandy Sued For $50 Million Over Fatal Car Crash (Click here to view the lawsuit papers filed against Brandy) LOS ANGELES (January 30, 2007) -- Brandy is being sued for $50 million by the parents of the woman killed in a car crash in December, Access Hollywood has learned. The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims "Brandy Norwood was driving recklessly in the freeway when her car collided with Awatif Aboudihaj's car." Aboudihaj's parents are seeking both punitive and compensatory damages. On Monday, the California Highway Patrol recommended that the singer-actress be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. The CHP referred the matter to the city attorney's office for review, said spokesman Nick Velasquez. "The office is currently reviewing the case and determining whether the evidence warrants the filing of a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter," Velasquez said. The charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in county jail and a $1,000 fine, Velasquez said.

Everybody is trying to get rich quick, even if it means exploiting their daughter's murder. I do admit that they are right in seeking damages, but what they're going after is just shameless. I had also heard that Brandy had her publicist apologize to the family for her. If that's true, I wouldn't feel too bad if she loses every penny.

I heard that today. $50 Million is an awful lot though. I KNOW the parents lost their daughter and there is nothing that can bring her back. But if it would have been me, what would they have done? I'm just a middle class person would they have tried for 50 million? Regardless, it is so sad to see anyone die in a car crash or any way! I just wonder if they are pushing it because she is a celebrity? Yes she should be punished and yes if she was messing around not paying attention she needs to be sued but are they taking advantage because she has money?

If her actions had this effect on someone else she should be treated like any other person and not like she's above the law because she's a celebrity. I'll be interested to see what happens in this case.
