I suppose I could call myself retired though my husband is still working away at his job. I worked as a secretary in a brewery in Dublin and I gave this up two years after I got married because I wanted to start a family. I began teaching music while my children were still very young and I just retired from that last year. Now, at sixty two, I am learning to play the violin and then I want to learn to play the guitar and clarinet. I am also considering taking up my teaching job again, as I am beginning to miss it, and the money was good.

I am a paraeducator, which means I work with students with special needs. I also am a residential support staff for adults who are mentally or physically handicapped.

That is an honorable profession.
I suspect that it can take a lot of patience at times. Do special needs children/adults seem to be happy with their lives and their perceptions of the world?
I love to see the smiles on their face as it makes me think that maybe they have found a level of happiness in this world that perhaps the rest of us have not found yet.
I hope that is the case anyway. In any event I am incredibly grateful for my capacity and my health.

I'm 57 and I've been retired from my normal career for the past 6 years. (I'm not physically able to do that type of job anymore.) I was a nurse and I worked for a Visiting Nurse Agency taking care of mostly cancer patients, alzheimer, and the elderly who had other things wrong with them. Now I work online as a broker/trainer for a discount dental/health company (over the internet) since I can't get out of the house to work like I used to.

Well, I am not as Young as a lot of the people on here, but I am Older than I look as well. But no, I am not Retired yet. I still have over 20 yrs. before I am old enough to retire, and hopefully my Health will hold out to where I can wait to retire then, unless I find a way online to make about what I can for someone else, and still afford Medical.

Nope, I am not retired. I will probably work well into my seventies. My husband can retire early, and probably will! He works for the railroad. I am a nurse, we never get breaks like that! I am 41.

Nope I am not old enough to retire. I used to work till my health got so bad that I could not work any more. i do alot of volunteer work now. I am the director/President of the local food pantry for low income citizens among other things.
LOL I am not going to tell you my age.

No I am not retired. I am 49. I used to work for Avis Car Rental, but now I am a home executive:) I try to keep myself busy with all kinds of hobbies and MyLot has recently my favorite. And you?

I am presently working in the construction industry as a project manager. I have by law another 7 years to retire at 55 years. You can guess my age now.
I will be quiting my job in two months time to set up my own internet business. Being my own boss will give me the sense of personal security and freedom.
