It's been weeks since we've been having problems in our internet connection here in the Philippines. We bought the best dsl speed suitable for our computer shop from the telephone company. But since December, there are days that I can't even open my yahoo mail. We tried complaining, but they just told us that the Taiwan earthquake last month caused some of their cables to break. Are they pulling our leg or has this been happening internationally?

im from the philippines too and i use wi-fi.. i think that its the same with smart bro.. the connection is yucky especially at dawn!. im always disconnected and i dont know why.. i think its because of the antenna.. when the wind blows hard, it affects the connection.. or it may as well be the earthquake in tawain.. im not sure.. but im quite sure of the fact that it is $hitty and it pisses me off all the time!. see i want to go online and im feeling in the mood to answer responses and the 6oddamned internet will not connect!. i really hate it.. at times though it allows me to surf the net and after like 5 hours or so it disconnects again!. what a trouble..

See how long it took me to respond. I subscribed at PL*T. We used it for our computer rental business, so we payed for the best connection suitable for us. We pay at least Php5600 a month, and this is the service we get! Grrrr. I should have their heads for this!. The least that they can do is to deduct from our bill the days when I'm disconnected. It's so bad for our business.

well, there was an earthquake in taiwan sometime in December. I believe some undersea cables were damaged. I had zero overseas internet access for a day. could only access local sights. now it seems to have improved somewhat

That's what our tel.co. says when we complain. I just hope they could fix it soon.

So then at least our phone company was telling the truth. I hope they could fix it quickly, it gives me the headaches seeing how I can't even contact my friends online. Thanks for the response.

Hi threena! Welcome to myLot! I have really a hard time connecting to my internet provider for the past few days since I'm a wireless subscriber and a strong wind can affect the antenna. I really go crazy when I can't check my mail or send some message to my friends and I keep on calling them and they told me the same answer that you got! Happy posting!

Thanks. I thought I'd have better connections since I'm not wireless, I thought wrong. The internet is taking it's own sweet time opening web pages, sometimes it even gets stuck. I can't even post some of my responses since yesterday. I'll be lucky if this post gets through. I think I wouldn't be upset if only the tel.co. deducts the amount of my bill everytime I get disconnected, but they don't, bless them! Thanks again.

hi threena. I'm located at Quezon City, the connection problem is well as far as i know, Philippines wide.. .heheheh.. Even Netopia has a post in their shops.. Sorry for the slow internet connection PLDT problem. My sister in law also has a computer shop and same problems and well all of us are subscribed to the same company. Well, to the smart bro, and wi-fi peeps. PLDT and smart are sister companies. So it's not a surprise if smart and pldt are having the same connection problems. If you would check with the bandwidth tester of the pldt site, the speed is fast our speed goes up to 3mb, sometimes even 4mb but if you would gauge it by playing online games flyff, ragnarok, o2jam and even browsing. You will definitely think that there's a glitch in the system. Anyways, you can call and complain, hour by the hour, there will be no help for you. We called and complained but they keep saying there's nothing they can do. You can actually ask for a rebate of some sort during the times the connection are 'yucky' but it has to be reported and they have to verify that there is actually a real problem. Plus, you don't get the rebate immediately. You have to pay whatever your balance is and they will just deduct it to the next billing cycle after they receive your letter or i think there's a form you can fill up at PLDT asking for the rebate.

hi, thanks for the great advice. I'll make sure to call them if the connection would suck again. I do use their speed test, but the site would hang up on me! Now I'll make sure to call them in case I might be able to get the rebate. I should because I'm losing customers due to their service. Thanks again.
