I eat rice but you need to understand that the general reason americans eat as little rice here compared to overseas it they are less skilled in cooking it/I have grown up overseas most of my life and the various ways to prepare rice makes the potatoe bars here make us look lazy.We rob ourselves of a fine staple and nutrient just because we refuse to spend the time it takes to prepare it. Or spend gobs of money at asian/ or Indian eateries to have them do it for us

In America for many people potatoes are the main side dish. Many restaurants now offer some type of rice as an alternate side dish to potatoes. In our grocery stores they sell many different kind of rice mixes with the spices already added. I like these because they are easy dinners for lazy bachelors. You just boil water in the microwave and add the rice mix for and heat another 10 minutes or so and have dinner. Rice by itself is not a healthy diet by itself though so some of the mixesare both rice and beans which you can add chicken or beef to. I still wouldn't say I eat rice daily probably 3 or 4 meals a week. Usually breakfast for me is bacon, eggs, and toast, or a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Where I work different restaurant come in different day to provide us with variety for lunch. On three days the vendors have rice and potatoes available as a side dish. The main entrees offered are pizza, sandwiches, baked chicken, pasta like lasagna, rigotoni, etc... And on Fridays we have a Greek restaurant come in with Gyro meant and chicken, rice, oh and I almost forget salads. Many Americans are very health concious now so most days they offer salads as well.

I prefer rice and rice items although it contains minimum rare vitamin and proteins.Mostly it contains carbohydrates and fats.It should be taken with plenty of green vegetables and pulse which will compensate the diet.70 % OF MY DISHES is rice only. I am indian and specially from Bihar.Good luck.Enjoy rice and we will sail together.

as i live in europe rice isnt main food here. it became trendy last years. same other oriental dishes. despite this i am not a fan of rice. i have eaten it hardly 10 times in my life. my best base food ever is potatoe. i must say i dont like rice and i cant put butter and sour cream into it as i put to potatoes. but people like it saying it is healthy and not fattening.

A lot of people over here in the United States eat rice. I do not eat rice everyday, but I do love to eat rice with butter on it, especially with baked chicken. We eat a lot of chicken, rice, beans and bread because these things are cheap.

Being a Chinese, I was brought up eating rice almost every day, especially for dinner. Sometimes, I have porridge or noodles for lunch.

I cannot eat rice anymore because I ate it all my life. I am so tired of it. The first time I tried french fries, mashed potatoes and other starches, I felt so good. I never ate rice again.
