Is this a book you should allow your children to read? My kids want to read them. But, I need some input. I have heard this wasn't a book for children. Please advise.

It depends on your belief and viewpoint. If you want them to watch it make sure you will guide them because it might lead them to think that witches are good and might go into witchcraft-who knows! I mean, I like Harry Potter but I know that it may have a not so nice effect on children especially if they are not guided.

Sandra, I think it all depends on what you want to teach your children. The first two Harry Potter books are suitable for kids around nine, but after that, the material is a little bit more mature, and each edition of the series becomes more mature along with Harry. Considering that Harry and his friends are eleven when the series start, maybe it's best to wait until they are eleven. On the other hand, the books teach a lot of really good things to kids too, like imagination, hope, strength, and independance.

What you said doesn't make the book sound bad. Thanks for your response.

It really does depend on the age of your children. I honestly would recommend reading them yourself first before you make a desision. I am 26 and some of the material is hard for me to take (it deals with some very real life issues) and I get very emotional reading it. The books do get more mature as they progress but I don't think they are negative in anyway and your kids may be old enough to deal with it.

Maybe I should rethink this. Thank you for your response.
