if you can't see this, just do a search for "key bumping" on the net and it should give you the same information..

I already knew about this. Our door doesn't lock..but fortunately living out in the middle of nowhere has its benefits. I've actually done it. Not to break into people's houses mind, just for locked boxes I found in our attic once. No key = me lock bumping. If someone wants to get into a place bad enough they can get in..this goes for high security places to someone's home in the sub-burbs. I don't find this scary mind..it just proves my theory that hardly anything's absolute lol..I just find it a bit sad. Most people are lucky that alot of the local thieves aren't that smart. Anyway, awesome discussion and thanks for adding me as a friend.

you're right...i had forgotten about skeleton keys...i've never tried key bumping, never knew about it until recently, but like you said, at least i think now i can get in somewhere if i have to...this knowledge would have come in handy a couple of years ago when i locked myself out of the house and my landlord had to actually remove one of the windows to keep from breaking the door down...lol....i'll know for the future (i know it's gonna happen again!) Thank you so much for your response, and it's nice to have you as a friend!

Oh, I just remembered. Waaay in the old days everyone used skeleton keys..and they were all basically the same..so anyone could get in. This just reminds me of that a little.

This is good to know about and definately is worth looking into. The new locks aren't that much more expensive than a good lock though. I've always heard it said that locks only keep out the honest people, if someone wants to get into your home they will get in no matter what we do. How scary is that?

Wow! That is scary that it can be so easy for someone to get into your house. It makes you wonder if your home is really safe or not. Well, I guess after looking at that, its definetely not safe.

Back in November the burglars broke into my home and stole my computer, gamecube, games, jewelry, tv, cds, lawn mover and clothes. I had to use a burglar alarm system in my home and I am always afraid because they might brake in again.
